Why do cleanse detox diets remain so popular?

Why do cleanse detox diets remain so popular? | Health & Fitness | Scoop.it
“ Just in time for swimsuit season, another cleanse diet book has been hovering near the top of the best-seller list; this one, called the 10-Day Green Smoothie Cleanse promises in its subhead to help you “lose up to 15 Pounds in 10 Days!” No wonder it’s selling better than the Green Smoothie Bible, the Detox Diet, or the 3 Day Juice Cleanse, all published within the past six months. But do any of them really work?”

High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT): Burn More Fat In A Shorter Time?

High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT): Burn More Fat In A Shorter Time? | Health & Fitness | Scoop.it
“ How High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) works to blast away your fats in a shorter workout duration.” The buzzword these days in the fitness scene is all about getting HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training)! It’s about getting extremely physical. So, What Exactly IS HIIT? HIIT describes any workout that alternates between intense bursts of activity and fixed periods of less-intense activity or even rest. For example, a good starter HIIT workout is running as fast as you can for one minute and then walking for two minutes. Repeat five times for a 15-minute, fat-blasting workout. It sounds too simple to be effective, but science doesn’t stretch the truth. With HIIT, you can burn more fat by doing less cardio – burning fat while spending less time in the gym or exercising in general.

Always Hungry? Here’s Why

Always Hungry? Here’s Why | Health & Fitness | Scoop.it
“ Are we fat because we overeat, or do we overeat because we’re fat?” FOR most of the last century, our understanding of the cause of obesity has been based on immutable physical law. Specifically, it’s the first law of thermodynamics, which dictates that energy can neither be created nor destroyed. When it comes to body weight, this means that calorie intake minus calorie expenditure equals calories stored. Surrounded by tempting foods, we overeat, consuming more calories than we can burn off, and the excess is deposited as fat. The simple solution is to exert willpower and eat less.

This really turns the "Calories in, Calories out" idea and calorie restriction strategy on its head.
