30, 2014 (HealthDay News) -- Calling obesity a disease may make obese people less motivated to eat a healthy diet and to lose weight, a new study suggests.

Very interesting read. Classifying obesity as a disease clearly can be a win for those individuals ready to embrace lifestyle change as a long term intervention as insurance companies continue to evaluate reimbursement strategies for weight loss programs, gym memberships, health coaching and nutrition counseling.  It can also drive the wrong behavior for obese indivudals who may looking for a reason to avoind having to address their condition. It will be interesting to watch how this plays out over the next 12-24 months.
