Fun (and Cheap!) New Workouts

Fun (and Cheap!) New Workouts | Health and Fitness | Scoop.it

Pay-what-you-can classes and other affordable fitness experiences are an equally awesome way to mix up your workouts on a budget.

And since varying your regular routine can help you break through fitness plateaus and beat workout boredom, that’s a very good thing.

Even if you belong to a gym that offers plenty of classes, working out in a new environment can help reinvigorate your routine and keep you excited about sweating it out.

How to Burn More Calories Through the Day (Without Even Noticing)

How to Burn More Calories Through the Day (Without Even Noticing) | Health and Fitness | Scoop.it

It’s amazing to me how easy it is to forget to move. This year was the first time in about five years that I found myself gaining weight. It wasn’t a lot, just five pounds over six months or so, but it was strange for me since I didn’t think I was doing anything different.

I write and think about healthy living all the time, and I absolutely love the food I eat. I no longer crave sugar, and avoiding it isn’t hard. If anything I have eaten healthier than ever during this time, since I started working at home and control 100% of my meals. I’ve been eating the same or better quality food than I always have, and have even improved on my mindful eating techniques."

CrossFit has some great exercises, but the culture of constantly pushing past your limits has some participants going too far. Yes, we do need to overload and challenge ourselves to achieve improvement, however overexerting ourselves and allowing someone else to drive us past a proper training load can have detrimental effects.

Christopher Taylor's curator insight, June 15, 2014 4:16 PM

There has been a lot of talk about how Crossfit is bad for people.  I think with any workout program problems can happen.  This is a great article about Rhabdo.  What do you think?
