The number of Sydney schools banning laptops and tablets is increasing as education experts find technology is impeding learning.
Sean Corcoran's insight:
Most disturbing aspect of this current debate is the outdated assumptions about pedagogy. Yes, if you stand in front of students and lecture them and they have devices on their desks and your lecture is not engaging, then they will certainly go off task. Using technology poorly in classrooms will lead to poor outcomes. 

 But if the concern is about them going onto social media, as the article states, then are parents not allowing students to have mobile phones? Because that is how they are primarily accessing social media. (It is banned on most schools' web filters….)
