My watch shows 10.30 UST, time enough before the meeting with the officer. It was always my dream to be in the services of the "United Federation Starfleet" and now I am here at 3rdRock Grid on the region "Starfleet Astarios" one of the colonies within the Starfleet realm...

"...We had more than thirty avatars from eleven different grids joining us at the Clubhouse this week, which was officially called 'ContraptionFest' and this event looks like becoming a regular feature of the Safari, because it was thoroughly entertaining .."
I was on this safari - it was quite entertaining. Over three hours went very fast! Tons of great free things are at the Lani Mall on OSGrid and I am going back for more this week. Prax and I tested the all terrain vehicles that Thirza gave us when we got back to Kitely. They appear to work fine -- we have ODE physics enabled on our worlds in Kitely. I absolutely loved Joe Builder's Lost World which is at ground level below the 4-region build of the USS Enterprise.
Kitely, the largest commercial OpenSim grid by land area, plans to deliver its Kitely Market content throughout the metaverse — not just to OpenSim grids. “Our goal is to make Kitely Market the main...
This is good news for creators who sell through Kitely Market, though High Fidelity is not a viable product yet.
It does not happen often that I have to leave Second Life and enter a different virtual world, in order to complete a blogpost on an art installation, but “Ghosts of the Internet” by Glyph Graves made me do it!
This is big news. Kitely first got Kitely Marketplace working with the additional export permission. New server code at Kitely honors the export permission, so you should not be able to take any of your inventory with you that does not have export permissions. Think about what you are wearing before gridhopping!

With the continued outage of OSGrid, the metaverse is doing it's best to accommodate displaced avatars. Much like the human counterparts who flee disasters, homeless OSG residents sought the nearest and most familiar port in a storm--Metropolis. As weeks of outage stretched into months of outage, as Metro's servers were pushed to the limit managing new members and expanding inventories, refugees sought alternative homes where they could begin rebuilding what they'd lost...
Interesting use of NPCs. Nara writes, "One of our favorite things to do at Nook Grid is make book boyz--NPC characters that were heroes in our novels--and set them up as dance partners at our First Friday book birthday parties each month. As you can imagine, we were all over Mata Hari's new dance system that allows us to deliver male and female characters as dance partners from the dance ball."
"In particular, that means support for WebGL — which was used most recently by the Cloud Party virtual world to create a Second Life-style immersive experience right in a Web browser, no download required. The end result should make it easier to create Web-based virtual world browsers without worrying about making it work with particular equipment." wrote Maria Korolov.
