Why Apple's Recent Security Flaw Is So Scary

Why Apple's Recent Security Flaw Is So Scary | Handy Online Tools for Schools | Scoop.it
On Friday, Apple quietly released iOS 7.0.6, explaining in a brief release note that it fixed a bug in which "an attacker with a privileged network position may capture or modify data in sessions protected by SSL/TLS." That's the understated version. Another way to put it? Update your iPhone right now.

How to Create an eBook from Wikipedia Articles

How to Create an eBook from Wikipedia Articles | Handy Online Tools for Schools | Scoop.it
You can bundle your favorite Wikipedia articles in a nicely formatted ebook and read it offline on any mobile phone, ebook reader or Tablet.

Wikipedia has offered the PDF export functionality on their website for some time but with the recent change, you can export a selection of Wikipedia pages as EPUBs which is a much better format for reading articles offline on mobile phones, ebook readers and tablets. PDF is still a more suitable format for creating print-ready ebooks.

How Users Interact On Pinterest, Study Reveals User Habits

Dennis T OConnor's curator insight, February 10, 2014 11:20 AM

I was introduced to Pinterest by one of my students about six months before the boom that made Pinterest a household word.

I wish I'd seized the opportunity and jumped right in. However, at first I just didn't get it.  Now in hindsight I realize that Pinterest is a curation platform-- one that appeals to millions.  Needless to say I'm now curating a dozen different interests!
