3 Powerful Web Tools to Create Whiteboard Animation Videos for Your Class ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning

3 Powerful Web Tools to Create Whiteboard Animation Videos for Your Class ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning | Handy Online Tools for Schools | Scoop.it
Whiteboard animation videos are videos that draw themselves. They involve an animated use of images, shapes, characters, sounds and voice-overs to create a clip. This form of video production has been very popular recently and is widely used by some leading educational YouTube channels such as TED Ed and RSA Animate. Creating a whiteboard animation video is no longer a graphic designer's job. There are actually several web tools that allow you to easily put together an animated video with as simple tools as drag and drop. As a teacher, you can  use these animations to create and share tutorials,  presentations, step by tsp guides, and many more. Below are three  of my favourite tools I would recommend for you:

Teach Your Monster to Read is a fun game designed to help students improve the speed and accuracy with which they recognize letters, sounds, and words. Teach Your Monster to Read originally launched as a free web service (it is still available online). Edmodo Training Videos by Russell Stanndard

Edmodo Training Videos by Russell Stanndard | Handy Online Tools for Schools | Scoop.it
Edmodo is free and offers you a simple virtual learning environment where your students can share ideas and collaborate together. It has a very similar interface to Facebook and so your students will pick it up easily. What's more, students to do need provide their emails. It is really easy to create a group and then invite your students to join the group. You can create separate groups for each class you teach. What is more amazing is that it is free. You can create quizzes, polls, add up important dates to the calendar, run discussions and share links, videos, articles etc.

The 10 Best Kid-Friendly Minecraft Channels on YouTube - GeekDad

The 10 Best Kid-Friendly Minecraft Channels on YouTube - GeekDad | Handy Online Tools for Schools | Scoop.it
If Minecraft has taken over your kids and you hardly know who they are or what they’re talking about anymore, you’re in good company. But, although you may love that the game helps build 21st-century skills such as creativity, innovation, and collaboration, your kids’ obsession can be overwhelming. Perhaps most puzzling is that every waking moment they’re not playing Minecraft, they’re in front of YouTube watching Minecraft.

For fans — and they are legion — Minecraft YouTube videos are a huge part of their enjoyment of the game. There are tutorials (for ideas on new things to create), “Let’s Play” videos (footage of people playing the game), challenges (new gameplay ideas to try), mod showcases (which show off cool thing kids can download to modify their Minecraft worlds), and more.

The Greatest Invention?

What one invention has made the greatest difference in the lives of people all around the world?  The case can be made for the washing machine; it has been a major tool in transforming the lives of women and restructuring gender roles in industrialized societies.

To think they used to say that one couldn’t do real work or create content on the iPad… Enter Weebly for iPad, a native application by the popular web-hosting service which allows users to create websites in minutes by dragging and dropping various elements in its web interface.

Although it’s been available on iOS since May 2012, Weebly was iPhone-only until todays update which has brought out native iPad interface with full editing capabilities, unlike the iPhone and iPod touch version.

Seth Dixon's curator insight, October 7, 2:18 PM

Earlier I shared a dynamic map of near-live wind data for the United States and a static rendering of global wind patterns.  This combines the features of both of those resources to provide a mesmerizing digital globe.  This visualization of global weather conditions is updated every three hours from supercomputer data projections.  Click on the 'earth' text in the lower left-hand corner to customize the display.  For examining the wind patterns and oceans currents, this is much more useful than Google Earth; this is definitely one of my favorite resources.
