  • ICT-Wijzers: Ook uitleg.

3 Powerful Web Tools to Create Whiteboard Animation Videos for Your Class ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning

3 Powerful Web Tools to Create Whiteboard Animation Videos for Your Class ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning | ICT voor Bachelor Secundair Onderwijs VIVES - campus Brugge | Scoop.it
Whiteboard animation videos are videos that draw themselves. They involve an animated use of images, shapes, characters, sounds and voice-overs to create a clip. This form of video production has been very popular recently and is widely used by some leading educational YouTube channels such as TED Ed and RSA Animate. Creating a whiteboard animation video is no longer a graphic designer's job. There are actually several web tools that allow you to easily put together an animated video with as simple tools as drag and drop. As a teacher, you can  use these animations to create and share tutorials,  presentations, step by tsp guides, and many more. Below are three  of my favourite tools I would recommend for you:

Rob Overend's curator insight, October 26, 2014 5:20 PM

Bring your teaching to life with animated videos to engage your students. Select from a bank of content or use your own. Could be great for reinforcing and inspiring. I might have to try one of these.

Ness Crouch's curator insight, July 6, 2015 6:08 PM

There are some interesting ideas here. I'd like to learn how to make animation like these. Now I have some tools. I can also see some application for older children in learning.

TPDK, a New Definition of the TPACK Model for a University Setting

Via Jeroen Bottema

Jeroen Bottema's curator insight, July 14, 2014 2:30 AM

"In this paper we propose a new Technopedagogical Disciplinary Knowledge model. This model integrates four separate dimensions, which we use to measure a teacher’s effectiveness. These are the individual teacher’s discipline (D), personal epistemology (E), pedagogical knowledge (P), and knowledge of technology (T). We also acknowledge the existence of relationships between these components. These can be more or less correlated depending on the teacher’s individual profile. They are always present, but they do not necessarily have the same weighting. In order to test the potential differences between teachers’ profiles, we designed a questionnaire, which tested our model’s components, and the relationships between them. This questionnaire was initially submitted to a group of teachers with whom we were familiar, to ensure the questions were understandable and that, based on what we already knew of the teachers’ characteristics, the profiles that emerged were reliable. A second test was then carried out, which we used to compare the answers of university and non-university level teachers, based in the two institutions in which we work. This second questionnaire was used to test the consistency of responses, and the correlations between the model’s different dimensions. Having analysed the outcome of these questionnaires, it appears that “pedagogical knowledge” is significantly correlated with the other three dimensions. This consolidated framework has helped us to build a system of education development coaching for teaching practices that use technology widely."

"Teachers interested in trying the flipped classroom model often ask me for recommendations for video creation tools. They also often ask me for ideas on sharing videos without using YouTube. One answer to both of these questions is to useeduClipper. On the free eduClipper iPad app you can create instructional videos on a whiteboard in the Khan Academy style. You can also use the app to create a video in which you annotate an image or document while talking about it. After creating your video you can save it to an eduClipper board that you have shared with your students through the eduClipper classroom setting. Your students can view the videos on their iPads or in the web browsers on their laptops."

At a glance, I thought this a helpful infographic.  It also made me think of the types of feedback I give my students.  In addtion to using a rubric (marking criteria), I tend to provide a fair bit of written feedback.

How about you...Which types of feedback have you found to be very effective in terms of student learning (as oppose to time-saving for us)?

Karen Ellis's curator insight, April 1, 2015 6:57 PM

Designing and planning assesment in online learning is very important.  This infographic reminds us of the importance of making the task student centric and that  ongoing feedback is critical.

Are you using the same lesson materials over and over and wishing you could make learning in your classroom more interactive? While lectures and lessons can be informative and even “edutaining” when delivered with passion and good materials by knowledgeable experts, sadly many traditional lectures and lessons are boring, and even worse often ineffective. The good news is that the Web is loaded with great free tools that can enable teachers to bring a sense of fun and engagement to their lessons”
