There is an introductory investigation of world patterns of population and urban concentrations which contextualises Australia as a highly urbanised country. It then accounts for this distribution before undertaking a comparative study of the population distributions of Australia and the USA.

Select number 10 for Dongguan, China

Like its neighboring cities of Guangzhou and Shenzhen, Dongguan has grown explosively as rural Chinese have moved to urban centers seeking employment in factories. In 2008, migrants from other parts of China outnumbered Dongguan’s local residents five to two. The images reflect that change; note in the more recent image the new circumferential highway and areas of bare ground at construction sites.
