11 Content Curation Tools Every Marketer Needs

11 Content Curation Tools Every Marketer Needs | Growing Into Schools of the Future | Scoop.it
For the uninitiated, content curation is finding information relevant to your audience from a variety of sources and sharing it strategically through your communication channels. The need for great content curators has never been more urgent. There are simply too many social networks, news feeds, emails, and infographics putting demands on your time and attention.

What Makes A Successful Content CuratorContent Curation Should Be Personal

The beauty of Next Draft is the personal touch and context Dave Pell gives to each story. If I wanted a bunch of browsable links, I’d go to an aggregator like popurls.com or AllTop. And sure, I still use aggregator sites, but my brand loyalty to them is almost as low as my brand loyalty to Spirit Airlines. I’d be the first to drop one if a better aggregator came along.

How Computer Technology Will Transform Schools Of The Future

How Computer Technology Will Transform Schools Of The Future | Growing Into Schools of the Future | Scoop.it

Nearly every other industry has been changed beyond recognition by the invention of computers. Why not education, arguably one of the industries with the most to gain?

The answer is probably some combination of rank incompetence, institutional conservatism, and perverse incentives.

This is a point of view you would expect from a technologist, but not from anyone with an understanding of the very social nature of learning, especially for young kids.  Still, worth reading.

I think what the promoters of online learning often fail to take into account is that learning encompasses a wide spectrum of approaches and purposes.  Acquisition of facts and information is only a very small slice of that spectrum that must necessarily be experinenced and assigned meaning in the larger learning context.

Deming Is Dead… Long Live Deming | Quality Digest | Growing Into Schools of the Future | Scoop.it
The man is dead, but his teaching continues... often, unfortunately, inaccurately. W. Edwards Deming has been dead for almost 16 years. In my opinion, he and Joseph Juran were the true quality giants of the 20th century.
Gary Obermeyer's insight:

I was introduced to W. Edwards Deming through the NEA Learning Lab Network (late 80s - early 90s).  His 14 points and the conclusion that 94-97% of organizational problems are system problems, rather than the individuals in the system, resonated with intuitions drawn from my experiences as a teacher and teacher leader.  Demng remaines as a significant influence in my work as a school change consultant and virtual community organizer.
