What a great pitch deck that follows the structure of a story!

We've known for quite awhile that when pitching your company to funders, you've got to tell your story -- of the problem, solution, your biz plan, benefits, etc.

But how do you put it all together using narrative structure? Well, here's your easy to follow guide. After reviewing dozens of these over the years, this one will definitely work for you and bring in those bucks (as long as your product, solution, benefits are spot on).

Happy fundraising...

Five tips for becoming a better public storyteller

Five tips for becoming a better public storyteller | Growing To Be A Better Communicator | Scoop.it
The STAGE System is a method of speech craft I created that puts your personal stamp on every presentation you give. It’s an acronym for style, truth, art, group, and energy and it serves as a checklist for every speech you give, whether it’s your first or your 500th. The STAGE System gives you a chance to pause and ask yourself who you want to be on stage. If you are naturally funny, how can you incorporate some humor into your talk? If you went through a life-changing experience, how can you tie that into your subject? If you love interacting with the audience, how can you make that a big part of your speech? By using the STAGE System as your guide, you build your talk so you are in your element and really shining on stage.

Is Leadership Listening a Lost Art?

Is Leadership Listening a Lost Art? | Growing To Be A Better Communicator | Scoop.it

This question is not reserved for those who hold high positions on an org chart or a title on a business card.  You don’t need a title to be a leader. Whether leading yourself or an organization, a family or a community, you have a sphere of influence and from that influence you impact and lead others

But how well you do depends upon a delicate skill: listening.

From curator~ " Elliott explains the process of how to edit your articles and improve your writing at the same time. Here's what caught my attention: It's important to first do planning and research before the writing begins. Use an outline of the structure with a beginning, middle, and end. After writing a post give yourself some time to process it. Save the editing process after you have completed your article. Read your completed work out loud to yourself. Notice the flow of the piece, and whether there were any mistakes you may have missed.

"Storytelling helps us make sense of our lives and the world around us. They are an incredibly effective method of finding and sharing meaning and context. Mary Catherine Bateson, writer and cultural anthropologist, believes that, “The human species thinks in metaphors and learns through stories.” We are hardwired for stories because we have been telling them for centuries."

To deliver strategic, bite-sized support your managers will actually remember and use, apply a pair of straightforward acronyms: P.E.R.S.U.A.D.E. and I.N.S.P.I.R.E. While the former model helps with managing up and the latter with managing down, both help managers learn the art of holding tough conversations.

Struggling on How to Kick Off a Feedback Session? Try These 3 Tips! | Growing To Be A Better Communicator | Scoop.it

I once conducted interview-based 360-degree assessments with three executives in the automotive industry.

Coming in as a third party consultant, I perceived a cautious skepticism from the leaders under review.

I decided, right at the onset, to create an environment conducive to their learning from the feedback they would be receiving. My goal was to help them be receptive to the comments and to avoid the thought that often comes by default when reading negative feedback: Who could have said that?

My clients and I worked together during the first meeting and agreed to navigate the process while bearing in mind the following three principles:
