Neuroanatomy Coronal Brain Sections

Neuroanatomy Coronal Brain Sections | New Group 5 | Scoop.it
Shaffi B*'s insight:

Splits the brain into coronal sections, with an additional option to see axial sections. Very useful for figuring out how all the parts fit together because, as I've oft heard repeated, the brain is a 3-dimensional structure. This helps piece everything together.

Shaffi B*'s insight:

I wanted to understand what exactly I was meant to be looking for in clinical examinations, and this video not only demonstrates the pathology, but explains it very well too.

As an extra note however, his bedside manner is not very good. It might be worth considering what he's doing wrong when speaking to the patient (however briefly).

extended_section.pdf

Shaffi B*'s insight:

This time I have Nottingham to thank for this resource. This pretty comprehensive  guide (for this stage at least) does a good job of explaining the differences between the 3 main types of heart block, and also - in a round about way- encourages you to properly consider the physiological ramifications of each one. Very good.

Shaffi B*'s insight:

This is a short overview of how atheroscleroses are formed in the arterial walls. It's good for getting a bare bones understanding, although I have to mention that from 4:40 onwards, it gets a little unnerving (you'll see what I mean).

External Anatomy of the Brain

Shaffi B*'s curator insight, May 21, 2014 10:21 AM

I've already scooped a brilliant find for recognising the gross anatomical features of the brain from the sagittal and coronal plane.

However, I was struggling to pin down all the truly external features (all the sulci seem unfortunately similar to me) which is where this pdf comes in. With many pictures of the brain from all angles, it makes it easy to begin creating a 3D image with all the sulci and gyri nicely differentiated- as they should be!

Olesya Godsafe's insight:

Hi girls!

These are really good, have many more examples than we need. Kumar and Clark really only mentioned the wheezing, crackles, pleural rub and vocal resonance.
I'd focus on the first two as thats what the patient has presented with, but the pleural rub is interesting to listen to- its like that noise that stepping on new snow makes. x
