Found where I saw the article on FGM earlier. It was in this Saturday's Times so is very recent. Although I doubt the girl in question in our case has experienced this as it is not the main focus, the number of FGM cases in England and Wales has increased threefold to 170,000 over the last decade. Presenting symptoms typically include: back paiin, mobility and bladder problems and UTI's so  it can be an explation for lower abdominal pain due to causing increased frequency of UTI's which is relevant to the case. I will bring the article in on friday for anyone who wants a read :)
