For Daniel Barden, kindness knew no boundaries. Through his constant show of compassion towards all living things, along with his effortless joy for life, Daniel taught us so much in his short stay with us.
I am a mother, nurse and Children's Author of the series The Amberella Tales. I try to write with humor and live with kindness and compassion. I dedicated my first book to my son and only child, Chris who died in 1999 at the age of 23. I have reached the point in my life where I want to help other parents who have lost children navigate this journey through grief and mourning.
On May 14, 1988—25 years ago today, a school bus carrying 67 people, nearly all of them children, was returning from a church youth group field trip to an amusement park. While they were driving through Carroll County, KY, a drunk driver driving on the wrong side of the road crashed into the bus head-on. The fiery crash killed 27 people – 24 children, the bus driver and two adult chaperones – and injured 34 others.

This blog is dedicated to my Maxie. Max was only 9 and a half months when he stopped breathing at daycare. At this point, we believe that Max was taken from us by SIDS. We are devastated by the loss of our most beloved baby boy. Hopefully, this blog will give readers a sense of what a beautiful spirit he was and will help to keep his memory alive.
