Wade Embury's insight:

One of the few men to defend his Olympic 100m title back to back, as well as winning the long jump 4 Olympic Games in a row. Also won 4 Gold medals in the 1984 Olympic Games in his home country. Don't look too much into his singing career though, unless you really need a good laugh. His attitude off the track could also have him decribed as a douchecanoe, but his accomplishments in competition are still impressive.

Wade Embury's insight:

The late FloJo, although the fastest woman ever in both the 100m and 200m, had a career shrouded in controvery of the legitimacy of her times. Aside from the more obvious acusations of doping, some of her runs, specifically her 100m WR of 10.49 was thought to have been heavily, perhaps even illegally wind-aided, but was ratified due to a faulty wind gage.

Wade Embury's insight:

Breaking any world record is already impressive, but to break your own record 3 times and to do it without a pacemaker in the 800m in an Olympic final should go down as one of the greatest races ever. Period.

Wade Embury's insight:

Highly anticipated, this 100m final lived up to all its hype with Bolt silencing all his doubters by winning in the second fastest ever and Blake coming in at second. A little disappointing with Asafa Powell pulling up and not making it a Jamaica podium sweep. Much drama, fully lived up to its expectations.

Wade Embury's insight:

At the first Olympic Games since prior to WWII, Koen shocked the world by winning 4 gold medals in the 100m, 200m, 80mH, and 4x100m, all while being a 30 year old mother of two. Do to this after one of the greatest wars of all human history should be seen as one of the greatest accomplishments of any female athlete, regardless of sport.

Wade Embury's insight:

Still inspiring almost 80 years later, his success in Berlin in the face of extreme racism and hatred will always be remembered as one of the greatest achievements in the sport of track and field. To get 4 gold medals under any circumstances is already mind boggling, but to do it with the infamous Hitler watching, saying you are nothing more than an animal is truely remarkable.
