Take A Look At What Happens Every Single Minute On The Internet

Take A Look At What Happens Every Single Minute On The Internet | Great Social Media Tips and Ideas | Scoop.it
Early last year we learned that one hour of YouTube is uploaded every second. It was a bracing reminder of just how many people are spending their time online simultaneously.

Created by rewards site Qmee, the infographic "Online In 60 Seconds" is a pie chart that shows off the sheer amount of online activity that takes place every single minute. The amount of YouTube videos uploaded has already increased from January 2012's 60 hours per minute to 72. Additionally, over 1.8 million things are liked on Facebook, and 278 thousand bon mots tweeted. Not depicted in the chart: the amount of work that is going undone while all of these items are being viewed.

[Infographic] Evolving SEO tactics: longer posts, Google+ and the tilde | Great Social Media Tips and Ideas | Scoop.it

This is an infographic about current SEO thinking with tips and tools to help sites rank better on search engines.

Most people have a general idea of how to optimize their content for search engines. That search engine algorithms are proprietary and evolving inevitably causes different opinions on SEO. Of course there’s another school of thought that minimal keyword research and a green-light from a SEO plugin are enough to publish a piece.

This infographic challenges writers and some of the preconceived notions about SEO. It has a mixture of tips and tools to help you rank better in search...

Martin (Marty) Smith's comment, May 2, 2013 9:52 AM
Great comment MizWalidah. I wold modify one point. Instead of "continually optimizing your meta keywords and tags" I would find ways to ping in fresh content such as User Generated Content from reviews or comments. Once a website I've SEOed is inside of Google's algorithm changing meta values that matter (mostly the page's title) can HURT SEO. I change titles VERY VERY carefully since the first rule of SEO is DO NO DAMAGE. The QDF (Quality Deserves Freshness) movement post Panda and Penguin LOVES it when a page pings, so I love the 1% of visitors who are willing to comment, review or otherwise contribute User Generated Content.

I DON'T play with meta nearly as much as you imply since to do so can look SPAMMY and cause real harm. The most important idea is creating content other people want to share. This is why I love GAMES and CONTESTS especially for bands. High engagement content such as Contests and Games can help with SEO and they can help create a distinct brand all bands need. Appreciate your enthusiasm, but be careful about meta (especially title) changes. Marty

Tye Plews's curator insight, October 15, 2013 8:55 PM

With the influence that social media has in the 21st century, it is important to understand the benefits and negative aspects that it can bring upon education. In regards to positive influences, it allows students to be able to contact teachers with ease (not so much in primary education, but at university level), and allows the sharing of information to be easily accessed. However some negative aspects could include harassment and safety or this information being exploited. It's important for students to grow up with knowledge around the use of ICTs and the use of social media but more importantly to use it properly.

How Social Media Impacts SEO and Site Ranking: infographic

How Social Media Impacts SEO and Site Ranking: infographic | Great Social Media Tips and Ideas | Scoop.it

Search engine optimization has not been dependent on a minimal number of factors for a long time now, such as number of times a keyword appeared on a page, and it continues to become a more complex web of on and off-page factors every month. One of the more recent factors that has had an impact on search ranking is social media.

This infographic breaks down ways that social media influences the visibility of your website in search results, including:

Social media can help search engines find and index your content faster Likes, shares, retweets, etc. indicates to search engine that content is new and interesting, often leading to a temporary increase in rankingsYour content will increase in search results for people connected to youIncreases domain authority and the number of inbound links to your website

Venkatesh - if I am able I give my site as much media support as I can. As a social media trainer I need to 'try out' media before I can teach others to use it and give an insight into which is useful and which is not. So I tend to put my site and what I am doing out on the various social media platforms at least twice a day - I don't over emphasise my site because that can be counter productive (people switch off if all they see from you is self-promotion) and so it is keeping your presence alive but not switching off potential clients by constant ME, ME, ME. I perform both SEO services and social media training for others (see - just a bit of self promotion LOL)
Michelle Gilstrap's curator insight, May 22, 2013 9:18 AM

SEO and Social Media why it works and how it helps your ranking. Excellent infograpic.

Stephanie Smetana's curator insight, July 9, 2013 4:17 PM

This infographic is a great way to depict many of the articles I've previously pointed out that cover SEO and social media. It is almost easier to explain the relationship in an image format, especially for those who don't have a background in SEO.

There are many other factors that go into how much social media truly affects SEO, so there is more to be explained after this. But this is a great introductory image. It also emphasizes the speed with which social media makes an impact.
