The Ultimate Guide To Infographics

The Ultimate Guide To Infographics | Graphic Coaching | Scoop.it

Information graphics or infographics are graphic visual representations of information, data or knowledge. These graphics present complex information quickly and clearly, such as in signs, maps, journalism, technical writing, and education. With an information graphic, computer scientists, mathematicians, and statisticians develop and communicate concepts using a single symbol to process information.

View three examples of visualizations defining what infographics are, and gain a better understanding of the value of an infographic in education with a video that demonstrates how their potential when used effectively in an educational setting.

Visit the article link for the video, 'The Value of Visualization', as well as more details on the science behind infographics and it's potential  for educational applications.

This can also be mapped across onto visual coaching.

Dave Wood's curator insight, July 22, 3:37 AM
Otto Scharmer describes two fundamentally different states of awareness that social fields can operate from. The first state is the one we see embodied in the  rise of terrorism, strongmen, and the far right. It’s a social-emotional logic that operates through: prejudice (closing the mind) anger, blame (closing the heart) and fear (closing the will). He calls this "absencing"
The second is  "presencing" because it makes our human essence more present to the world, to each other, and to ourselves. It’s a generative social field that comes into being whenever groups move outside their habitual filter or bubble and engage in processes by opening the mind (curiosity), the heart (compassion), and the will (courage).
What results is a cycle of co-creative action: seeing with with fresh eyes (open mind) sensing other perspectives (open heart) presencing our highest future possibilities (open will) co-creating those possibilities through learning-by-doing (realizing).

How To Draw Stick Figures That Express Verbs | Verbal To Visual

How To Draw Stick Figures That Express Verbs | Verbal To Visual | Graphic Coaching | Scoop.it
Stick figures help tie your notes to the human experience. They make it clearer how the ideas that you’re capturing relate to you and others.

They also help you to capture stories in a memorable way. Stick figures are characters in the snapshot story that you can tell in your notes. Add in a few more images of what your character is interacting with and soon you’ll have a visual anchor to the set of ideas you’re working with.

In stick figures we see ourself and we see others. Even in this simplified version, the drawing of human beings allows the viewer the opportunity to enter the story you’re telling because they can see themselves in it.

Stages of Being a Maker Learner - @JackieGerstein

Stages of Being a Maker Learner - @JackieGerstein | Graphic Coaching | Scoop.it

"So what is making? I’ve proposed that the heart of making is creating new and unique things. I also realize that in order for this type of making to occur, there needs to be some scaffolding so that maker learners can develop a foundation of knowledge and skills. The end result, though should be maker learners creating new things by and for themselves. The ideas in this post have been sparked by the SAMR model. I see a similar pattern or progression with maker education:"

Creating a Cultural Fit : Using ethnography with users and stakeholders: Using ethnography with users and stakeholders | Graphic Coaching | Scoop.it
Based on Edgar Schien's definition: Culture is a pattern of shared tacit assumptions that was learned by a group as it solved its problems of external adaptation and internal integration, that has worked well enough to be considered valid and to be taught to new members as the correct way to perceive, think, and feel in relation to those problems.
