NJ Grant Opportunity: Fiscal Year 2016 Emergency Management Performance Grant Program Conference Support Program

The purpose of the FY2016 EMPG Conference Support Program is to provide funding to support conferences that address all-hazards and all phases of emergency management, including mitigation, preparedness, prevention, response, and recovery. Conference attendees should include public and private sector entities and individuals that support emergency planning, training, and exercising.

Created by the Century Council, a national non-profit organization dedicated to combating underage drinking, the
Cops in Shops program offers a unique approach to preventing the illegal purchase of alcohol by underage persons
through a "partnership" of liquor retailers, specifically Plenary Retail Distribution license holders, and the law
enforcement community. The program also targets adults who purchase alcoholic beverages for underage individuals.

The Five Star and Urban Waters Restoration grant program seeks to develop community capacity to sustain local natural resources for future generations by providing modest financial assistance to diverse local partnerships focused on improving water quality, watersheds and the species and habitats they support. Projects include a variety of ecological improvements including: wetland, riparian, forest and coastal habitat restoration; wildlife conservation; community tree canopy enhancement; and/or water quality monitoring and stormwater management; along with targeted community outreach, education and stewardship. NFWF may use a mix of public and private funding sources to support any grant made through this program.

The New Jersey Department of Children and Families (DCF) announces the availability of up to $377,000.00 in funding for the Safe in Place Generator Initiative for the purchase and/or installation of emergency natural gas generators to be used in the event of the disruption of utility services for DCF providers holding current contracts for out of home treatment programs supervised transitional living homes or shelters that provide 24 hour care of DCF involved children and youth. The existing contracts must be with DCF Children’s System of Care (CSOC), Office of Adolescent Services (OAS), and/ or DCF Child Protection and Permanency (DCP&P). Providers who currently have generators are not eligible for these funds. This RFP is not intended to replace existing equipment. The amount of each grant shall be a maximum of $30,000.

A pass-through entity has significant responsibilities to ensure that not only its own federal awards are in compliance, but also that its subrecipients are in compliance with all applicable regulations, including the Office of Management and Budget’s (OMB’s) Uniform Guidance and program-specific statutes and regulations.  Unlike the administrative requirements of its predecessor OMB Circulars, the Uniform Guidance spells out explicitly a number of important requirements for making, managing, and closing out subawards, as well as subrecipient monitoring.  This webinar led by FTLF Senior Associate, Scott Sheffler, will discuss the requirements set forth for all phases of the subaward process, and will provide strategies for setting up meaningful systems and relationships.

Applications are due by 4 PM 11/17/16.  Nonprofit agencies that provide victim services and public agencies that provide victim services (but not those that are part of a law enforcement agency or Prosecutor's Office) are eligible to apply.

 

Funds will be awarded to support specialized training initiatives that identify and respond to the needs of underserved victim populations, including but not limited to the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer community, elderly persons, individuals with disabilities, and racial and ethnic minorities.

Nonprofit groups working on projects directly related to wildlife diversity and education in New Jersey may now apply to the Department of Environmental Protection for matching grants to help support their endeavors.

 

Grants ranging from $1,000 to $3,500 are offered through the Division of Fish and Wildlife's Endangered and Nongame Species Program, using revenues generated by the Conserve Wildlife License Plate renewal fund.

Approved projects will be funded for a single year. The application deadline is 5 p.m. Thursday, December 15.  

The awards are 50-50 cost share grants, and at least 25 percent of the grantee's share of the project funding must be monetary. The remainder may be in-kind support. The grant program's allotment for 2017 is $39,000.
