I beleive there is too much emphasis by the comentaria in general about wine as an expression of terroir and not enough about wine as an expression of techniques.  why can't wine be appreciated for craftmanship as much as from origin? a work of art is often appreciated for its brush stroke as it is for its use of colors. i beleive that technique has a great deal of pleasure to offer wine lovers.  think of marsala, think of vin santo, think of trentodoc with 72 months on lees...

A total of 4.75 billion euros ($5.29 billion) worth of champagne was sold last year, a 5.6% increase from 2014. In terms of bottles, though, the volume was a 1.7% increase, as 312.5 million bottles were shipped compared with 307.2 million in 2014. 2007 was the record year for bottles shipped, but the total value was a mere 4.56 billion euros.
