God forgives me?
Clayton Jennings is a man in this scoop who, as a high schooler, used to work in the clean up department of a car dealership. He also being a follower of God fuses the two facts of himself to present an analogy that gives us a better understanding of appearances and forgiveness. You can see contrast depending on where you are standing. The closer you are the better a look there is at the details of what something is like. This works at both ends of the street with cars and with people. The example car given is a lovely and expensive orange corvette. As the vehicle rolls up the state of that car seemed to be in a very excellent condition, though as the camera zoomed in on the features you were able to see that it was not so much excellent as it was dirty. Clayton mentions that he has taken this notice and further explains how we are so similar to these vehicles and what we are able to do to get clean again, as we are all dirtier than we may appear.
What does forgiveness have to do with anything?
This scoop is of a video in relation to confessional prayers from our prayer and scripture unit. A prayer of confession is confessing our sins and seeking forgiveness of any damage we have done to God’s creations. When we sin guilt and shame may manifest itself. We are soon affected by these acts that they begin to become a part of our lives. Dirt and dust will collectively come to be our appearance and lead others astray. Forgiveness is almost as if receiving a free car wash. It is the equivalent to so because if we can just make our way to confessing as to how we got so dirty to God and ask to be cleaned, it will be done. For God is ever loving and forever forgiving, he believes in giving multiple chances in order for you to be free from sin. This car analogy helps in understanding that it is acceptable that we may sin because humans make mistakes and we are able to continue to ask for and be forgiven by God. The way in which we have learned to ask for so is through prayer. A way for God to see closely just how you have gotten this way and free anybody of any acts that have made us sinners.
How can I forgive?
Mistakes, sin, and regret all eat us up from the inside. We may try to ignore the feeling or nagging from our conscience yet the troublesome voice remains. If only we allowed ourselves to get personal with God and closer to him would he see just exactly all of what has been our burdens. If we did God’s response would forever be: I will make you clean, I will restore you, and I will give you life. All of what he is saying is that he will forgive you no matter what you may have done. All we have to do is go to him and allow him to lay his eyes upon the dirt, the grime and the sin. He will restore and he will clean us of everything. We are not required to do it ourselves, nor are we required to put on a more appealing act in order to seem as less of a mess. Go as you are and God will accept your apology over and over again. Why? Because, he loves you.
