Quickwrite: Last Train Home

I agree Do you agree or disagree with the decisions that Qin's parents made? What would you have done differently?

Via Joel Leagans
grace phelps's insight:

I agree with them for leaving for jobs and money reasons. But they way they  treat their children is wrong and not appropriate. Yes some of it it cultural differences that some americans dont agree with but in the big scheme of things treating kids like adults to that level isnt going to help them as much as they might think.

The parents are correct for having left to get a job to give quin a better education. The parents had to make their own personal sacrifices in order to let quin move ahead in life. But quin not liking farm life and having no parents around to raise her goes against her parents will and leaves the farm in order to get a job for herself in a factory.
Justice The Bryant's curator insight, May 5, 2014 3:42 PM

I think the choice the parents made to leave there children to go work in the city to make enough money for Qin and her brother to go to school was the right  decision. However if it was up to me i would have tried to make enough to  move my family closer to me, so i would be able to see them more often

Stephanie Peraza's comment, May 5, 2014 3:43 PM
i agree with the decisions the parents made, the only reason they moved was because the kids could have a better education and a better life. but they cant just come after a year and visit their kids and expect everything to be ok. i would do the same thing if i was in the same situation as Qin's family is in.

grace phelps's insight:

They should have the right to return becacuse they  are connected to it. They should be divided up by relegion and social status that way there is not future conflict with anyone.

think that the conflict can be resolved by a treaty being set for each the Palestinians and Israelis. They should also be given land since it is their homeland.
samantha perez's comment, March 28, 2014 4:11 PM
I think that the conflict can be resolved by giving the Palestinians their own country. They lost more land then what they had before. They deserve to live on thier land. Or they can resolve by a treaty to give each other equal rights.
Tiana Coleman's comment, April 2, 2014 1:17 PM
I feel that the palestinians and jerusalem should all come to an agreement of equal rights. Cause the palestinians should be comfortable as any other country in the world. Also jerusalem should 'nt be divided cause its their land. But the palestinians should'nt have to go through all that chaos

QW: Church and State

Mr. Leagans puts a copy of the Ten Commandments up in his room.  His principal asks him to take it down saying that it is a violation of church and state.  Mr. Leagans disagrees and believes that the Ten Commandments will help provide his students with moral guidance.  What do you think Mr. Leagans should do?

Via Joel Leagans
grace phelps's insight:

Since the ten commandments are apart of religious views and "laws" i think that he should take it down. Yes, although he might have some point in keeping them up because he  think it will help. Its against policies tat the school and law has provided and if he keeps them up he ultimately might lose his job.

I agree with Lisha Patel's comment because if no student is offended by the amendments then it should stay up. There should not be a problem if no student is offended.
Justice The Bryant's curator insight, April 22, 2014 3:52 PM

I think Mr. leagans should take it down , since he could get into trouble over it. For example a Jewish kid could get offended by the copy of the 10 commandments and tell his parent. The next day they could tell the principal cause and effect. So unless he wants all of that drama i suggest he takes it down

samantha perez's comment, April 22, 2014 3:53 PM
Mr.Leagans should keep the copy of the ten commandments because some students need guidance and that may be a reminder to them to be good. And may help students think about their actions. Mr.Leagans should also tell his students to think about the copy and just try to understand it.

Getting a new country isnt that easy. They need to find allies and make better so they can be allowed to get resourcs from new people .
