According to a scientific study published in the journal Appetite, educating people with type 2 diabetes (T2DM) does not reduce their high level of sodium intake.  In a comparison of two study groups made up of people with T2DM, the group taught to read food labels and understand how to choose low sodium products did not change their food patterns. Over a three month radomized controlled trials, urinary tests demonstrated that the group that received nutrition education continued with high sodium intake.
