Did Fracking Cause Earthquakes in Ohio? | EcoWatch | Gov & law - Sean | Scoop.it
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) has ordered Texas-based energy company Hilcorp to halt all fracking operations in Mahoning County after at least four earthquakes shook the area on Monday. A magnitude 3.0 earthquake at 2:26 a.m. and a magnitude 2.6 at 11:45 a.m. on March 10 were among those reported in Poland Township just south of Youngstown near a fracking site with seven drilling wells, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. “It’s an area which (before 2011) had no history of earthquakes,” John Armbruster, a retired Columbia University geology professor, told the Columbus Dispatch. “It looks very, very suspicious.”
Via Cathie Bird
Sean Prouty's insight:
That's crazy that fracking might have caused and few earthquakes. I didn't know that fracking could do that. That company is hurting a lot from being shut down I bet.

Lucas DeCook's comment, February 23, 2014 1:41 PM
obamacare is good for some people that cant afford health care. But on the other hand i think it is terrible for the US. This is basically giving people that have no money and no life health care for close to free. While the people that make good money are getting stole from. For the people that have more money it is costing a ton more money for the same health care that they already had before. I think that this makes the whole country just a little more lazy. People that dont have money now can get freeish health care. So why would they want to make more money? If they make more money their health care is going to go up and its just going to cost them more. I think that this system needs more incentive for people to make alot of money.
