The Minnesota Senate has approved scaled-back revisions to state gun laws that do not include an expansion of background checks for gun purchases.
Drew Fuchs's insight:
The MN Senate passed a new gun bill. This bill states that there will be wider background checks and other regulations, as well as other restrictions. I think this is a good thing to be passed, but it is still a long way from solving our gun problems.
New Delhi (AFP) May 6, 2013 - India's Supreme Court gave the green light on Monday to the commissioning of the nation's largest nuclear power plant in the southern state of Tamil Nadu, despite widespread protests.
With India getting the "green light" on this nuclear plant, should others be worried? This is one of the largest nuclear plants and who knows what they could do with it. I dont think we should be too worried but should keep this in sight.
I stole this story from somebody but i think it is very interesting. Two major companies in our nation are arguing all over a simple thing as a product and to have a second hearing is outrageous. I'm guessing they are both pretty wealthy companies and all they want is "bragging" rights over the other and that's all this is going to come down to.
I think Obama and the rest of the nation are very upset this Bill wasn't passed. This is now threatening our nation's safety and putting a huge disappointment on our nation as a whole. This could of easily been passed if there was some kind of effort put into it.
A bill is dead to create a fourth college system in California to award credit and degrees to students but offer no courses, according to the head of the state Assembly's higher education committee.
The bill would have created the "New University of California," which would have issued credit and degrees to anyone capable of passing certain exams. The bill received criticism and news media attention even though it had an uphill battle to become law: its sponsor is Assemblyman Scott Wilk, a rookie Republican lawmaker in a Democratic-majority legislature..."
I think that making another college system in CA is important and not important. This is important because CA has so many people, why not give them another opportunity at higher education. On the other hand, it could be bad for our nation and the cost of maintaining a college now is crazy.
In this article, Obama states that we need to have a center party. A party that has both democratic and republican views as well as the same ideas about government and all other beliefs. I don't think we should have a center party because it will only add more arguments into politics (more than there already is).
I think that Obama using cigarette tax money to fund free-preschool for 4 year is completely wrong. Using money from something bad for you to fund young kids schooling is ridiculous. 4 year olds to go to school already is awful and when they get to high school and college, I think they aren't going to be motivated as they should be at that age.
I think that doctors and other medical officials should ask and encourage physical activity since our ever-growing obesity in all ages of people. Exercise should be in everybody's daily life whether it's just a walk, run, or even simple stretching. It will only make you healthy and the rest healthy.
Dean is highly against the Supreme Court currently and their power. He believes that they are using their power is being used unlawfully and disobeying the Constitution. I think if someone believes this, there is many more and I really think they should look more in depth at this problem that has been sent forward to our nation.
This just shows how great of a thing we did as a school. We helping our community and its being noticed by the area. This just shows what a difference a school can make to a community and what the community could do back to the school.
Major internet sources a pleaded for a decrease in the cost of keeping their stock and other parts of their business in the NYSE and NASDAQ. They believe it is overally priced and needs to be changed. Not really sure on exactly they want, but it could be a huge change into the stock exchanges.
I don't think this passing is that big of a deal. There wasn't enough of a change to make big headlines nor has it been a big factor in reality. Therefore, I think the news are only making it a big deal being Obama signed it and approved the change.
BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. (AP) -- A Bonita Springs man, Steven Trew, frustrated that the Everglades Wonder Gardens will soon close, broke into the zoo sometime early Monday morning, cut the locks on almost every cage and set many animals free, according to employees at the gardens.
One deer was killed on Imperial Parkway, one deer is missing, but the rest of the creatures never left the zoo property and were returned to their cages by zoo staff.
Employee Jack Wollman arrived at the Everglades Wonder Gardens at 5 a.m. Monday and found the back gate sawed open. When he got inside he noticed deer, pigs and birds were out of their cages.
Wollman held the suspect, 58-year-old Steven Trew, until deputies from the Lee County Sheriff's office arrived. Trew has been arrested by the Lee County Sheriff's Office and charged with burglary of a dwelling and damage to property with criminal mischief...
If you are crazy enough to free wild animals into the world, you need some help. Also, you are putting everyone in the area in danger as well as him. Did he really think he was going to get away with this without gettting in trouble?
kgw.com Emotional reunions for runners returning via PDX kgw.com PORTLAND – Runners and their supporters returning to the Portland Metro area from Boston started arriving at PDX late Tuesday morning.
Drew Fuchs's insight:
After the tragedy that happened, I think mourning with victims and witnesses was a good thing to do. It helps people gain their strength back after the explosions and a way to get their minds off it. We will just have to wait and see the story being the explosions.
In this article, it goes further into depth of the First Amendment and explains the many problems there is within it. I think we neeed to put limitations on what we have "Freedom of Speech" when it comes to certain circumstances such as school, work, and/or public areas. Watch what you say and who you say it around.
I think that Senior citizens have been paying citizens all their life and to change it now that are old in order to suit Obama's wants and needs to make our economy "better" is completely wrong. Changing their payments may only hurt us instead of helping us because some senior citizens are big contributors into our nation.
