It would be great if the US maybe stopped spending so much and starting working a little harder to improve our country. I would love to live in a country as powerful and great as the one we originally founded.
Abigail Beinborn's curator insight, May 12, 2014 9:48 AM

Government spending has led to a massive debt. I believe there are ways we can spend less to help reduce our debt, but we can't stop spending governemnt money. We have to pay for the troops that fight for our country and many other people and things to keep this country going. We need to watch our government spending more closely and cautiously.

Lauren Heim's comment, May 18, 2014 6:41 PM
The U.S. Spending has come to an all time low or should I say high? The government has only brought us the feeling of failure and that our economy is breaking down since they've only spent their money in places/things that don't actually work. The least they could do is slow it down or fund something that's actually useful.

Cell Phone Kill Switches Are A Slippery Slope For Abusive Governments | Techdirt.com

Cell Phone Kill Switches Are A Slippery Slope For Abusive Governments | Techdirt.com | Gov andLaw Gunnar B | Scoop.it

Last Spring, wireless carriers and the government jointly announced that they'd be collaborating on building a new nationwide database to track stolen phones (specifically the IMEI number). The goal was to reduce the time that stolen phones remain useful, thereby drying up the market for stolen phones and reducing the ability of criminals to use the devices to dodge surveillance.

The move came after AT&T was sued for not doing enough to thwart cellphone theft, the lawsuit alleging AT&T was intentionally lax on anti-theft practices because stolen phone re-activations were too profitable. After regulator pressure, AT&T launched new stolen device blocking tools and re-vamped their website with security tips.

Law enforcement has complained that none of these efforts have done much to stop cell theft and resale, in large part because phones stolen here are simply taken overseas and used there. This in turn prompted a push for new "kill switch" legislation in both New York and most recently San Francisco, in addition to a new bill proposed by Senator Amy Klobuchar we discussed last month.

While perhaps well-intentioned, all of the bills have one thing in common: they forget that if you can kill your phone remotely, so then can governments, hackers, and anybody else.

I still think that all this talk about discrimination about gays is stupid, because the biggest argument against gays, that I have heard, is that it is against the bible. I don't see protests against divorce because the bible said it was wrong. This bill being enacted would also discriminate against other religions as well. Then we all would be in an even bigger mess.

I found this video interesting, I also thought it was a little weird how so upset he was yelling when he was talking about the government. I liked how he gave great analogies because I don't really understand all of the big terms that go along with government but he gave a great descriptions of why he thought that our generation is living through the destruction of the US government.
