Top Censored Media Stories of 2012 | Gov and Law-McKinna | Scoop.it

Project Censored specializes in covering the top stories which were subjected to media censorship either by being ignored or downplayed by the mainstream media each year. Project Censored is a research team composed of more than 200 university faculty, students, and community experts who annually review between 700 and 1,000 news story submissions for coverage, content, reliability of sources, and national significance.

khodge55's insight:

At first when I read this I thought that they were talking about censoring innapropriate language.  After fully reading this article, I found that the censoring is coming from the news reporters.  They are not giving us the full stories, which obviously we don't all have time for that and it is not any different from what they usually do.  I think that it's interesting that they are giving us the full stories now.

I don't believe that we need to get into any more war conflicts.  If we has suspicions that they are going to harm their people, there are better ways of going at it than sending in our militia.  This may seem as if we want to start a war with them, and if they do indeed have chemicals that are deadly, we don't want them more upset with us than they probably already are (I'm not sure if they like us in the first place, but my guess is that they are not allies)

khodge55's insight:

These percentages make me nervous.  I feel as though I am prepared for the work load in college, but if college professors only believe 26% of students are prepared and high school teachers think 89% are ready that means that even though some of my teachers may think I am on the right path to do well in college, I may not be.  Hopefully taking college level classes will help me be a part of the 26% that are "well" or "very well" prepared for college.

MsHaeussinger's comment, April 22, 2013 7:37 AM
There is certainly a significant gap between what we prepare you for in high school and what you find in college. The tough part is, not everyone is 4 year college ready in high school, leaving teachers with a significant challenge which professors don't understand.

The thing with this is that not all Americans are Christians and not all Christians are straight.  Though Christianity is a major religion in the US, I believe that it is important to acknowledge the other religions as well.  Times have changed and laws have changed (i.e. Prohibition) there is no reason that the Supreme Court could not pass the same-sex marriage law now.

Kailee Barnes's comment, May 12, 2013 10:30 PM
Definitely wasn't hating on Christians, and I'm not mad at them or anyone really. You can't just blame one group for a problem, I am more than aware of that. I wasn't saying Christians are a problem at all, it would be hypocritical of me to judge anyone. I really couldn't care less what religion anyone is, I'm not going to judge or hate or blame based off of something personal like that. I was just saying that the laws should keep religion out of the picture because not everyone is the religion they sometimes base things on. It's more of a matter of the government being more considerate, I wasn't trying to hate on anyone. I suppose I should've said something more along those lines. I apologize if I offended anyone at all. Plus, this is just my opinion. If you disagree, that's fine, it's human nature.
littlebytesnews's comment, May 13, 2013 12:33 AM
It's not just Christians who oppose same sex marriage and homosexuality, other religions find it against natural law. We were created with two genders for a reason, do you know what that reason might be?
khodge55's comment, May 13, 2013 10:16 AM
Brian, I was in no way hating on Christians. What part of anything anyone said made you think that? All I said was that the US government shouldn't base how they jude gay marriage on what one religion said. The US does not have a set religion and it is not okay to set laws on one religion. It is ridiculous for you to be pointing fingers when my comment did not have any hate for any religion, person, or group of people.

I'm not quite positive why I chose for two of my posts to be about guns. When I was searching for good stories, many of them were about guns and/or gun control. There seems to be a lot of gun violence going on lately, and I'm not sure if there is a certain cause of it. I think this is a really neat way to see how the people in congress feel about gun control, but if I were a political leader, it would be annoying to have random civilians calling me.
