I really don't think that we need this in Minnesota. We are very outdoorsy here and keeping our guns is almost apart of our culture. I believe that this issue has gone on for too long and is blown out of proportion.

I also am surprised at how diligent these types of bills have been. The thought of gun control was no longer center stage in light of everything else that has happened.
Taylor Franklin's comment, May 19, 2013 2:55 PM
When these bills became very public, some people didn't really have an opinion, including myself, and it was still a valid question that people would consider with an open mind. Now everyone has developed their opinions on the matter, and we've driven these ideas pretty well into the ground.

Very interesting.  The fact that so many people disagree with his plan just proves the flaws we have in our government.  He has way too much power, and is given too much credit.  I believe that the gun control is a lost cause, and that at this time people are acting in anger of previous situations than in a logical mindset.

Can police use your silence against you? Supreme Court to decide.

Can police use your silence against you? Supreme Court to decide. | Gov and law current events | Scoop.it

by WARREN RICHEY (Christian Science Monitor)

The US Supreme Court agreed Friday to decide whether prosecutors can use an individual’s refusal to answer police questions as evidence of guilt at a subsequent trial if the silence came prior to being taken into police custody.

While the high court has long held that criminal suspects who are in police custody have a Fifth Amendment right to remain silent, the court has never decided whether a similar right protects interactions with police prior to an arrest.

Suspects are routinely advised in Miranda warnings that they have a right to remain silent. That right stems from the Fifth Amendment protection against being compelled to provide evidence against oneself at trial. [MORE]
