People don't need experts; they just need someone who knows | Communication design | Scoop.it

You don’t need an expert for this – you just needs someone who knows the answer to the problem. So we have attempted to scale by connecting people with many other students. Instructors are still there, for the tough and difficult problems.

==> But students can help each other out, and are expected to do so. <==

I agree completely with that and I encourage students to learn while using curation as their own resources and joining a #PLN (Personal Learning Network) where they could even make a Peer-Review by themselves first and later by their "Coach" (Teacher, Professor, Instructor...) for final advice ;)

Students in 21st Centure are mature enough already (mostly) to do so and I encourage them to choose that way, BUT listen to the Master, YOUR "Coach" and try to go for a win-win situation, every body wins and NOBODY looses, OK!? ;) Enjoy that new way of learning, it's a great way of learning with fun and on YOUR own pace... ===> #motivation #success #criticalthinking #proactivethinking #society #21stC

So, what is a #PLN (Personal Learning Network) and how can I use it? Check out my curation about it here:

Embrace #21stC #mentality and go ahead to bring this world further ===> YOUR choice and #Responsibilty for a BETTER world, just do it ===> #Courage + the WE #2gether!

12 Things to Stop Doing in the Next 12 Months

12 Things to Stop Doing in the Next 12 Months | Communication design | Scoop.it

Let’s fast forward:  You are on your death bed, wondering and imagining what you could have done.  You could have pursued that passion, opened that business, or spent more time with your loved ones.  But that time has long passed, and the only thing you can do now is think about what is done – what is set in stone.  Oh, what you would do to get those moments back and live your life the right way – to repaint the past, take chances, spit in the face of your fears, share your love, and live with no regrets.

The New SEO Rules in a Content Marketing World

The New SEO Rules in a Content Marketing World | Communication design | Scoop.it

Five years ago, SEO was all the buzz. Today, it has shifted to "content marketing," which aims to create stories humans want to read and engage with. - The above chart is a good summary of this trend.

Guillaume Decugis's curator insight, October 29, 2013 9:58 PM

This one slide alone summarizes the major trend of these past few years.

In other words, Social Media is becoming the new SEO.

This has at least 2 consequences for Content Marketers:

1. Content Marketing is becoming more and more important: companies can't use old fashion backlinking techniques anymore.

2. Content needs to be shareable and target humans - not robots. In particular content curators who will amplify their content impact by adding the right context to the right audience.

Alison D. Gilbert's curator insight, October 30, 2013 7:33 PM

This is a good visual to explain the importance of good content.

Neil Ferree's comment, October 31, 2013 11:19 AM
Social Shares is the New SEO. Sure, links let the bots know there are other sites (authors) who find your content useful but when someone publically "shares" your content with their social connections, this social signals evokes trust in the author's content and authority.

Writing and designing are part of a continuum of communication skills

Writing and designing are part of a continuum of communication skills | Communication design | Scoop.it

Graphic design has always been about words and images, writes Jim Northover. Nowadays words play an even bigger role in design practice because designers are expected to provide a written context, narrative or explanation for their work. It’s not that images have given way to words – so much of today’s media is defined principally by the dominance of imagery over text – but words and writing have become integral to the design process.

Empathy In Creativity and Design Thinking

Empathy In Creativity and Design Thinking | Communication design | Scoop.it
RSA Animate recently released a video called 'The Power of Outrospection'. The video intrigued me and this post has helped me pull together some of my thoughts about the links between empathy and creativity.
The post explores empathy in a variety of fields, including design, human services, and the creative fields, and the video is also embedded in the post. Take the opportunity to read the post, watch the video, and ponder how empathy allows us to be creative as we look for new solutions for whatever issues we face.

Where To Find Good Alternative Sources for Content Curation

Where To Find Good Alternative Sources for Content Curation | Communication design | Scoop.it

Robin Good: If you are looking for ways to expand your horizon of content sources that you can use to find valuable content for your curated news channel, Pawan Deshpande, founder and CEO of Curata, has done an excellent job of listing and describing the many alternatives available to you.

While many beginner curators rely on their set of RSS feeds and on simple web searches to find new and interesting stuff on their topic of interest, there are a dozen more content source types that can be tapped to find relevant stuff. This article helps you start learning where to look to find them.

Useful. Resourceful. 8/10

when we first star to use the Net to research, the number of pages indicated seems overwhelming. Design Thinking. Bringing Empathy and Collaboration to Your Designs

Design Thinking is a process of bringing integrative thinking, experimentalism, collaboration and empathy into the design process in a structured way. In this episode Vince and Allison walk us through the empathy and collaboration aspects of this framework.

Michele Ivanisevic's curator insight, April 30, 2013 2:39 PM

Empathy and Collaboration = Design thinking;  Integrative Thinking: Designers harmonize seemingly conflicting ideas into a useful hole; - Experimentalism - questions about usefulness; Collaboration - variety of interdisciplinary ideas; Empathy - imagine the use by customers through a true understanding of how the customer interacts with their environment

Collaboration with target audience is key - hands on experience - managing the opinions of a focus group - meaningful insights into the benefits and flaws of current designs -- Self-Reflective -- feedback
