Don't demonize public pensions: Opposing view

Don't demonize public pensions: Opposing view | AUSTERITY & OPPRESSION SUPPORTERS VS THE PROGRESSION Of The REST OF US | Scoop.it

Monica S Mcfeeters's insight:

"Fueling taxpayers' anger is that they are financing benefits no longer available to most private-sector workers." (as mentioned in this article).

Now that many retirements are invested so that Wall Street can float their boats on these investments, Wall Street seems very unwilling to  payout after using these funds to gain tremendous advantage over the last 35 years. There is also not a word mentioned about the loses to retirement investments managed by Wall Street. Just because corporations bullied the private sector employees out of, or down from their benefits doesn't make that right or better.

Earlier this week, Britain’s spy chiefs testified before Parliament. American intelligence contractor turned leaker Edward Snowden, they told MPs, has undermined the security of the United States, the United Kingdom and their allies.
Monica S Mcfeeters's insight:

Excerpt:

In his appearance before the U.K. parliament, Mr. Lobban, head of the signals intelligence agency that monitors communications, said that his job was like trying to find “fragments of needles” in an “enormous hayfield.” The hayfield in his metaphor is society. And we are the hay. It’s our personal information and communications: phone calls, e-mails, browsing histories, personal records, and so on.

Indeed, officials required Wright to produce a certified copy of his birth certificate to procure a personal identification card that would allow him to vote.

OccupyMARINES"As the war over income inequality wages on, super-rich Seattle entrepreneur Nick Hanauer has been raising the hackles of his fellow 1-percenters, espousing the contrarian argument that rich people don't actually create jobs. The position is controversial — so much so that TED is refusing to post a talk that Hanauer gave on the subject. National Journal reports today that TED officials decided not to put Hanauer's March 1 speech up online after deeming his remarks "too politically controversial" for the site."
