'Both aren't above killing people to attain their goals.' Carl Gibson, RSN
Monica S Mcfeeters's insight:

Statement by US Uncut that I fully agree with;

"The explosion in West, Texas was also a terrorist attack, caused intentionally by deregulating industry to the point of preferring demonstrably unsafe conditions over slightly lower profits. Corporate terrorists like the US Chamber of Commerce need to be held accountable, or things like this will keep happening."

Hannity COMPLETELY misrepresents new Pew Center poll to further Islamophobia!

Here's what Hannity leaves out...

.....

Even the most enthusiastic sharia supporters still favor religious freedom for people of other faiths, in part because they believe it should apply only to Muslims. That explains how 84% of Muslims in Pakistan want to enshrine sharia law, but three in four say non-Muslims are free to practice their faith.

Many Muslims want religious leaders to have some -- even large -- influence political matters: 53% in Afghanistan, 41% in Malaysia and 37% in Jordan, the research finds.

Similarly, many Muslims see no incompatibility with democracy, said Farid Senzai, director of research at the Institute for Social Policy and Understanding, at Santa Clara University, another adviser to the Pew Muslim research. "You can have a democracy and yet also have strong support for Islam to play a role in politics."

The Enduring Legacy of America's Commitment to Asia
Heritage.org
We have over the years seen the remarkable economic growth and economic development in Asia.
Monica S Mcfeeters's insight:

Truth to Asia!...  The Heritage Foundations is not America's leader. No one elected them, nor did we hire them....sadly they were just born rich and they wouldn't know what to do with a boot string...at least nothing good to do with it..  When Koch did run for office in the light of day rather than sneaking in the dark he got like 5% or 2% or the vote..No one liked, trusted or wanted him. Then he and his bro decided they had enough money to buy the country and that would allow them to buy your country too. Don't be as stupid as the USA and then have to figure out how to get rid of such rotten, bad apples.. The foundation has nothing to do with us...it's just two greedy brothers and their friends trying to get everything for their own..

How did Barack Obama become Monsanto's man in Washington?
Monica S Mcfeeters's insight:

The right to food that is healthy is basic and we need to stand up for this right. This is as natural as the "real" original they say......Then why do these companies have patents if it's so much the same it needs no labels? Why did they make it in the first place if it is no different?

Why is it important to have so many people in such major roles placed there to sneak/push the stuff into everyone's diet, air and soil with ownership of  planet ownership as a goal? THis is like a giant dog marking his area andit just happens to Round Up poisonand he intends to mark soil of the whole planet and every tree, bush, veggie and animal.

Bad Karma: How Romney's Bain Capital Worked its Magic on Clear Channel Communications | Nomadic Politics

Bad Karma: How Romney's Bain Capital Worked its Magic on Clear Channel Communications | Nomadic Politics | AUSTERITY & OPPRESSION SUPPORTERS VS THE PROGRESSION Of The REST OF US | Scoop.it

(This a reprint from last year but much of the information is still valid. Only Romney is out of the equation.)

Here's a elegant example of what happens vulture capitalism meets exploitative media.  Headquartered in San Antonio, Texas, Clear Channel Communications, Inc. was founded by Lowry Maysand Red McCombs in 1972. Its fortunes soared when, in 1992, Congress made it possible for media companies to acquire more than 2 stations in any given market. It was undeniably an empire-building relaxation of ownership rules.

The Bain Capital connection to Clear Channel began back in 2008 Bain Capital LLC and Thomas H Lee Partners LLC purchased Clear Channel for $18 billion. The deal was announced in July of that year only a few months before the economic meltdown.

Banks took one look at the details and  refused to underwrite the loans for the deal. The time to pay the piper is definitely on the horizon, and approaching fast. According to Marketwatch,
Clear Channel owes $2.8 billion due in 2014 and $12.2 billion due in 2016. The $1.1 billion "special dividend" going to Clear Channel will reduce the 2014 debt to $1.7 billion.
What a relief. Only a billion and half.   The punchline? Guess who made a killing on the deal?
Monica S Mcfeeters's insight:

Interesting collection of links to artilcles which support this "Bad Karma" point of veiw. I need to read over it a bit more and maybe rewrite this insight, but at first read this sort of presents the idea that these in entities, Bain, Clear Channel and right wing extremist radio are consuming each other.

Hmmmm - Romney is "out" of the equation!  Excuse me! Are we now making assumptions of facts not in evidence to assist the flip flopping Pitten's succeed in his "retroactiveness"?

Laser Haas's comment, May 2, 2013 11:29 AM
There's a big story here that is being missed. Goldman Sachs and Bain Capital are involved in Racketeering; which also includes their very own "arranged" corrupt federal prosecutor Colm F Connolly. (Whose DOJ Office of Legal Policy Resume paints a "Retroactive Romney" picture extraordinary. http://www.justice.gov/archive/olp/colmconnollyresume.htm
Laser Haas's comment, May 2, 2013 11:36 AM
By the way, if we could get a proper federal investigation into the massive crime spree (and I'm getting real close to having such transpire) - then we should see a RICO seizure of Clear Channel and hopefully a "break up" of those 800 stations being monopolized by an extremist (biased) POV.

Opinion: No Rich Child Left Behind | NYTimes.com

Opinion: No Rich Child Left Behind | NYTimes.com | AUSTERITY & OPPRESSION SUPPORTERS VS THE PROGRESSION Of The REST OF US | Scoop.it

Here’s a fact that may not surprise you: the children of the rich perform better in school, on average, than children from middle-class or poor families. Students growing up in richer families have better grades and higher standardized test scores, on average, than poorer students; they also have higher rates of participation in extracurricular activities and school leadership positions, higher graduation rates and higher rates of college enrollment and completion.

Whether you think it deeply unjust, lamentable but inevitable, or obvious and unproblematic, this is hardly news. It is true in most societies and has been true in the United States for at least as long as we have thought to ask the question and had sufficient data to verify the answer.

What is news is that in the United States over the last few decades these differences in educational success between high- and lower-income students have grown substantially.

One way to see this is to look at the scores of rich and poor students on standardized math and reading tests over the last 50 years. When I did this using information from a dozen large national studies conducted between 1960 and 2010, I found that the rich-poor gap in test scores is about 40 percent larger now than it was 30 years ago.

NC bill would eliminate class-size limits | Education | NewsObserver.com | AUSTERITY & OPPRESSION SUPPORTERS VS THE PROGRESSION Of The REST OF US | Scoop.it
A bill filed in the state Senate would eliminate the ban on public schools’ having more than 24 students in any kindergarten through third-grade classroom.
Monica S Mcfeeters's insight:

This couldn't be a good thing! The Heavy GOP states seem to be all working to roll back gains in the public schools and make no mistake about it after the Mom and Pop and church charter privately own, but publically funded charter schools will come the main plan. The Wall-marting (not that Wal-Mart will own them but don't be surprised if GE finance does)and the Macy’s ritzy type for profit charters.

Those that can afford it will get the Macy corporation school and their won't be seasonal sales...other will get the cheap Wal-Mart style and as public school is undermined and the equality that was fought for is marginalized where else will you send the kids. The Wal-Mart schools will be training centers for poor jobs and the ritzy schools will be feeders for the wealthy to hold power and educational advances.

Read the writing on the wall…Isn’t nearly every store, business and restaurant, cell service Media provider, auto parts supply, Office supply, building supply and drug store in your town the same one that is in all the other towns in the whole country where they were allowed to set up shop?  They were allowed in nearly every town and in large city you find cookie cutter business repeated in each area. Why would the future, and annual multi-billion dollars of profit, private educational industries differ down the road? Is that really what we want for everyone preschool through high school? Why would private industry invest in education if they can’t harvest wealth from it? For-profit industries don’t do good things like care unless we make them.

Keep your eye on ALEC and other groups like them they are pushing our public schools and everything we've built as a support system out of our lives by buying up state officails to get thier way across the nation.

House of Un-Representatives

House of Un-Representatives | AUSTERITY & OPPRESSION SUPPORTERS VS THE PROGRESSION Of The REST OF US | Scoop.it
This Republican House is almost like a parallel government, sitting in for some fantasy nation created in talk-radio land.
Monica S Mcfeeters's insight:

This article points out the distance the GOP has come from the average guy and gal. I would like to point out that both parties have fallen far to deep under the spell of their biggest donors funds. The GOP uses buzz words and focus that tempt the Christian’s worst fears.

The Democrats use the words and focus that encourage the hope of the broader population’s dreams for more democracy and inclusion. But in the broad view of a rear view mirror, both mostly deliver favors and laws that clearly benefit those who will hire them and family members as lobbyist and pushers for those that funds their political life and wins.

We all need to wake up. We need to have our town hall meetings for real again and all show up and make the government we have in place our own for maybe the first time ever. Then alert our officials about those meetings in the same fashion DC and State government have periods open for public input that no one ever hears of and officials only tell us about if it is in their interest and with plenty of spin. We need to select and run our own horses in all the next elections as a write in on every election. This is how we avoid the preselected offerings Prof.Lessig speaks of in the TED TALK "LesterLand".  I don’t know how many of you know it or saw it but there were debates of those parties and people not allowed by the TWO parties to participate in the last presidential election. We need to make sure those debates stay as separate from the big money debates as the TWO parties want and that we show up for the outsiders debate and vote with them.

These things are in place now and we see that the Tea Party, Moveon.com are seeing what they agree on and Occupy has been forced mostly to kitchen table, coffee house discussions and public service for buying medical debt to forgive and helping those in crisis…All are still very active…Lets bring them together they are not so different as they like to think. They all have and are delivering important messages. They all need to think more fully and broadly then they have been and maybe brought together that will be the best way to make that broader thinking visible.

They all love their country and it’s liberty.  They love their families and extended communities.  They love the natural world God or Nature or many feel both placed to sustain us. They all want to somehow be an active part of shaping their own destinies. We will all always be different. There are Christians and non-believers and those that believe many different things on all sides of this, not just on the so called “right or left” and many more in the middle that are a little right on this and left on that..

We can respect each other differences or we can fight to the bloody finish and that is about the only two options to resolve differences. So let’s get together with our own brand and vision for our future and figure out openly how to make that happen. It will take a while, but we can do it and we’ve already started.

Excerpt:

"To date, seven bills have been enacted. Let’s see, there was the Responsible Helium Administration and Stewardship act — “ensuring the stability of the helium market.” The Violence Against Women Act was renewed, but only after a majority of Republicans voted against it, a rare instance of letting the full House decide on something that the public favors. Just recently, they rushed through a change to help frequent air travelers — i.e., themselves — by fixing a small part of the blunt budget cuts that are the result of their inability to compromise. Meal assistance to the elderly, Head Start for kids and other programs will continue to fall under the knife of sequestration.

On the economy, the Republican majority has been consciously trying to derail a fragile recovery. Their first big salvo was the debt ceiling debacle, which resulted in the lowering of the credit rating for the United States. With sequestration — which President Obama foolishly agreed to, thinking Congress would never go this far — the government has put a wheel-lock on a car that keeps trying to get some traction."

Courtney Burns's curator insight, November 20, 2013 3:33 PM

Being from around the area and listening and watching the tv during the boston bombings all I really thought about was how the city and families were effected by the tragic event. However I never really thought about how it impacted muslim people in the area. For people to put a blame on all muslim people is not right. We are not all the same, which means not all muslims are the same. Some muslims have lived their whole lives in the US and for people to catogorize them all as terrorists isn't right. All people should be treated them same way. It is sad to read the article and think that some muslims in Boston walk around in fear of being beat up or killed just because of their culture. The bombings effected an entire city and muslim people people should be able to mourn with the rest of the city. They grew up there just like we did. So what makes them so different from me and you? Not all muslims are killers like the two boys from the bombings. It is really sad to me that they have to live their lives in fear everyday in a place that they call home, just because of their culture. No one deserves to live like that. I can't even imagine how difficult it is for muslim people in Boston.

Ryan G Soares's curator insight, December 3, 2013 10:38 AM

Terrorism is a huge problem in our Country today. I'm not trying to racist saying this but I feel like they do it to themselves. Coming into our country and terrorizing our nation thats okay? Yes not every Muslim is a terrorist im not saying that but you never know if they are or not. Since 911 we cant trust anyone, and theres a reason for that.
