Rush Limbaugh made the incendiary assertion Friday that Black Lives Matter is a “terrorist group,” but what is the truth about BLM?
Monica S Mcfeeters's insight:
My insight: This is an article from the fifth column news....As someone that loves researching connections of ideas and values, events and political policy I'm giving my ideas on the recent police attacks. Research is an activity much like using many colors and marks to create an image only the unity of the final connections is more mental than visual or physical as it would be in art. The image creation is a mental process that is the same as used to do research and that is why I like researching connections to shape full ideas.
I recognize the latest police attacks as consistent with the values and agenda of the Oath Keepers .... though no group has claimed the actions and the Dallas shooter stated point blank he acted alone and had no associations with groups. It would be wise for this group to not beat their chest. Still the oath keepers, as a group loathed by both the center right and the center left, are a group that mandates prior military service and swears an oath to protect American citizens against attacks by our own military or police if the actions or orders of the military or police are not in the interest or go against the rights and freedom of citizens... That was my impression of this organization as far as I remember from my research as I bumped into some folks associated with this group.
I follow my natural curiosity and questions as I dig up info.... One link usually opens a new question and directs me to a new connection. Much like spilling some paint you don't intend forces an artist to look for a way to connect that spot and unify the work if there is anyway to do it well....One learns when some drops can't be incorporated without ruining the art work or concept you seek to complete.... Those drops of paint or information just don't fit the big picture. The same is true for researching. These attacks on the police fit the oath keeper mandates. That is my opinion... They may not be directly connected but the actions seem in keeping with their concerns.
The Oath Keeper's leadership watches police attacks on citizens all over the nation like Hawks and on a daily basis as an over all picture they follow. They also watch for police and military connections they see as threatening to citizens... An interesting group to read about as it is attacked by both right leaning O'Reilly and left leaning Chris Mathews. I asked my husband who is much like a walking encyclopedia if he had ever heard of a "fifth column" thinking also that it might be a military term. Steve's majors at Tulane were political philosophy and paleontology (go figure)... But he is also well read in history and military doctrine and ideas. Turns out it is a political term( I got lazy on my research when I ran across that term in regards to the oath keepers). Steve says the fifth column is a political term that is sometimes used in many democratic countries that have a strong four party system with two right and two left parties. The term describes a group that is against both the current left and right... This might explain why O'Reilly and Mathews both see the oath keepers as a threat. It is also my opinion that the attacks on the police are not about Obama or Hillary or gun rights..... Or even Trump yet...It is about police killing people that are often unarmed ( and more likely so if they black people). The idea that not even so much as losing a job over the mistake happens or recognizing the killing as a mistake or an inappropriate, over-reaction on the part of the officers involved is upsetting to millions of people. A DUI driver is sentenced with involuntary manslaughter... But the driver never intended to use bad judgement or skill in driving. There should be some consequences if a police officer kills or injures you out of a incorrect, perceived self defense... It should not be "oops" even if you are a policeman... Shoot first ask questions later wasn't a good answer in most the cases that have enraged people lately...
