As this year's Davos meetings get underway, the need for global cooperation has never been greater, and governments, business, or civil society alone cannot meet our challenges.

What would the world be like if the "Global Forum Discussion" included more of the global citizens and not just the leaders? I'm also not sure how all these leaders are selected to be declared leaders other than many are in fact elected or royal leaders. This sort of sounds like the days in school when teams were getting picked. Now all we need is to set up the other team for those that get stuck with the role of "followers of these leaders" most not know or want to follow. We need our team and Forum if the other 99.9% of the world wasn't invited to show up at this one. This curator feels individuals choose their own path AND who leads that path. The Davos Forum feels the crisis because they have been leaving the 99.9% of individuals out of the meeting. Speaking for and planning for the 99.9% that weren't invited just screams out that these leaders think what that 99.9% have to say doesn't matter and who wants to follow or support people like that? Maybe they would not be seeing so much global crisis had they included all the world players for the last 40 years in shaping our collective future. They had some successes as Klaus Schwab mentions to make himself feel better but he might have had more reason to celebrate had they brought even 70% or 50% of the rest of the population into the discussion and thinking process.
"For more than 40 years, world leaders have gathered annually in Davos to discuss and advance the most critical issues on the global agenda. This year, the list of problems to be discussed is a long one that includes the unresolved debt problems in the United States and Europe, the troubling global economic outlook, the turmoil in the Middle East and North Africa, and the bulge in youth unemployment."
