RT @brainpicker: "We've seen what austerity does… It kills countries and companies." On the past and future of the postal service http://t.co/It9znicF
Monica S Mcfeeters's insight:

This is very important! The reason we need to keep and support our post office is our freedom of speech....Traditional mail may someday be the only private conversation we are allowed if we don't protect our other privacy like the internet, phone calls, e-mails and public spaces. That alone gives us reason to fight for it and support it. Then there is the little problem of the whole idea that things break or can be broken, but the mailman has been reaching all of us for centuries now even we had nothing but feet and horses to carry us around. That is a system we want as a baseline service.

Competitive advantages: A comparison of competitiveness and wealth | GOP & AUSTERITY SUPPORTERS VS THE PROGRESSION Of The REST OF US | Scoop.it

SWITZERLAND tops the latest global competitiveness ranking of 144 countries by the World Economic Forum, best known for its annual shindig in Davos (a Swiss ski resort). It is closely followed by Singapore, while Finland has replaced Sweden in third place. That may be some comfort to the Finns, whose economy is lagging while Sweden’s is thriving.
