The author talks about the "social mindset" connecting as human beings is what gets you in the door......

An interaction like the she refers to in this piece is between her and another person whom in the past she would have closed the door but social media has made her see people in a different light.

The comments sound as though the ones that are laid off are rich kids with do nothing jobs. I have know some laid off workers from AIG. They were young college graduates of the banking field that ended up moving back in with their school teacher momor truck driving families. One I know became a math teacher the others were not able to find work with the banking industry and also went to look for other work.
