OK! This sounds like a good idea at first thought......but is there a huge space to abuse this idea? After all, one man's hero is another man's terrorist. Also, I don't know about you but I hit buttons I never mean to from time to time......What's the outcome and how hard is it to get off the list if you are sited incorrectly? How do you even know you were turned in and would it make you reluctant to speak or search freely for fear of getting caught in a loop like that and accidently ending up on the wrong link? Just saying.....I also think it could be easier to find these groups or people in online activities if they are not driven to hide underground.

Republicans to Obama: We Will Give You Trade Promotion Authority

Republicans to Obama: We Will Give You Trade Promotion Authority | AUSTERITY & OPPRESSION SUPPORTERS VS THE PROGRESSION Of The REST OF US | Scoop.it
Newly elected Republican majority in the Senate tells Obama they will work with him to pass fast track/Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) for the TTIP and TPP. By Christian Gomez
Monica S Mcfeeters's insight:

OK! For those of you that still are buying the Republican and 1% spin about Obama being a socialist and communist and an Islamic anti-Christ......and voted for the rich white, Chinese, black or any other mega rich guys party on Election day last Tuesday ......you don't have a seat at their table with less than 50 million or so. It's let's play ball time for Republicans. Things just got pretty for the global rich and ugly for the rest of us that work for them or compete with them.

Here is how much Republicans and the 1% really hate Obama really:

Excerpt:

“They were elected to stop the policies of Barack Obama and the Democrat Party,” Limbaugh asserted. Unfortunately, however, Republicans are making it clear that they intend on working together with Democrats and the president to get things done, particularly Obama’s free trade agenda.

“I’ve got a lot of members who believe that international trade agreements are a winner for America and the president and I discussed that right before I came over here,” said Senator McConnell, who among other Republicans, shares Obama’s vision about the “trade” partnerships. “I think he’s interested in moving forward. I said, ‘Send us trade agreements; we’re anxious to look at them.’”

Even Senator Rand Paul (R-Ky.) has voiced his support for the trade agreements, encouraging the president to “prioritize” passage of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP). Speaking at the Center for the National Interest dinner in New York City on October 23, Senator Paul said:

Our national power is a function of the national economy. During the Reagan renaissance, our strength in the world reflected our successful economy.

Low growth, high unemployment, and big deficits have undercut our influence in the world. Americans have suffered real consequences from a weak economy.

President George W. Bush understood that part of the projection of American power is the exporting of American goods and culture. His administration successfully brokered fourteen new free trade agreements and negotiated three others that are the only new free trade agreements approved since President Obama took office. Instead of just talking about a so-called “pivot to Asia,” the Obama administration should prioritize negotiating the Trans-Pacific Partnership by year’s end. [Emphasis added.]

Both the TPP and the TTIP are unprecedented regional agreements purported to create millions of new jobs and expand the U.S. economy via greater integration with the Asia-Pacific rim nations (TPP) and with the European Union (TTIP) at the expense of American sovereignty. Congressman Alan Grayson (D-Fla.), one of the few members of Congress given limited access to the TPP negotiation documents, told the Huffington Post, “Having seen what I've seen, I would characterize this as a gross abrogation of American sovereignty.”

Teach the Web | Week 9: #teachtheweb #4life

Teach the Web | Week 9: #teachtheweb #4life | AUSTERITY & OPPRESSION SUPPORTERS VS THE PROGRESSION Of The REST OF US | Scoop.it
Week 9: #teachtheweb #4life
MAKE Project this week: Become a Webmaker Mentor. Create a portfolio of your Teach the Web work and apply for the Webmaker Mentor Badge. Include your posts to the  #teachtheweb community, event documentation and notes on how you will  continue to teach the web.

Last week, we began putting into action all the things we’ve learned through #teachtheweb by making it real and spreading webmaking and learning in our local communities. We started to reach out to potential collaborators, and make commitments to running a Maker Party where we #teachtheweb. We are continuing to discuss how we can all improve our practice through ongoing online AND offline engagement.

This week, the final curated week of #teachtheweb, we’re going to make commitments to ourselves and each other to #teachtheweb #4life.

We are a community of practice.

What began as a 9-week experiment that would give us the opportunity to explore the ins and outs of an online learning experience, erupted into a bustling community of makers, who are interested in helping other people make and explore in the digital world. At the beginning, we said:

We consider this a success if learners:
Actively engage in #teachtheweb online and strive to complete it (Test train the trainer content via online delivery)
Create and improve teaching content (Expand/iterate kits and their activities)
See themselves as part of the Webmaker community, with some aspiring to leadership roles (Grow the Webmaker Mentor and Super Mentor community base)
You will learn how to:
Innovate in your practice with openness and online collaboration.
Adapt educational resources to address learners and topics you care about.
Test your remixed materials with a live audience and improve them through peer feedback.
Make cool things on the web & share that knowledge with the people you care about.

In our view, #teachtheweb is a remarkable success. Not only did you actively engage, you went above and beyond expectations. Not only did you create and improve teaching content, you found new formats, beta-tested new Webmaker.org features, shared true stories, successes and failures relating to content, participation, learning and much more.

The fact that many of you are jumping into the G+ Community and commenting and sharing new makes and reflections on a regular basis, using the #teachtheweb hashtag to share interesting articles and ideas, and running Maker Parties over the next couple of months, leads us to believe that you feel like part of this community.

We are a community of practice. We are all contributing to the spread of web literacy through our interactions online and through our activities to #teachtheweb in our local communities.

Our work is not done.
Until learning web skills, openness and learner-centric methods are inherent in our educational systems, until collaboration and connectivity are integral parts of our learning pathways, until we can recognize learning no matter where it happens, until people all over the world can read, write to and think critically about information in the global knowledge ecosystem that is the World Wide Web – our work is not done.

We can’t expect that someone else, some other organization, some other community to change the world for us. WE have to make commitments to ourselves and each other that we will spread web skills, the open ethos and maker culture in our communities in whatever ways we can.

Monica S Mcfeeters's insight:

This article covers the push of trade agreement discussions as well as the idea of ISPs spying, censoring and reporting information  to the government about potential terrorist.

So here is my point on censoring terrorist.......Would George Washington have been a terrorist to Britain back in his day? How do you decide who to censor and report once you start spying in mass on everyone that is your costumer or citizen or guest? Is this not more than a bit one sided to assume our government or tech company is allowed to know every intimate detail of citizen's and customer's connections and discussions and share this info with each other and the public is not allowed to know any of these same organizations intentions even when it comes to trade agreements and business deals that directly affect us all?......I get it that terrorist are bad, but this proposal may be equally bad when it comes to overall freedoms. How long is it affective to ground your teenager when they are bent on doing something stupid anyway? Restrictions more often lead to the teenagers or in this case angry, or often disenfranchised people to act out even more.  Understanding and addressing people's real needs and fears is a far more affective way of changing or preventing undesirable behavior. Putting everyone in handcuffs might prevent terrorism of one type, but may not be the best answer for free people. There are many that believe any recruiting for the purpose of killing others is evil.....including any legal, national or local military type of activity.....  which by the way often kills hundreds of thousands of innocent people as well.

This article is interesting on many levels and brings many important questions to mind. Here is an excerpt of a well taken point about the trade agreements pushed for in this article:

Frances O’Grady, the general secretary of the UK Trade Union Congress, who is in Australia for the G20, also questioned the way in which trade deals are being struck in private.

She said: “The one bit of Aussie slang David Cameron didn’t use was the ‘fair go’ - the core Australian principle that workers deserve respect and a decent standard of living.

“Living standards are still under pressure in both countries and zero hours jobs are on the rise. Trade deals could help stimulate growth and investment but with unions locked out of G20 dialogue people are understandably suspicious that this is too much about making corporations richer and too little about creating decent jobs and higher wages.”

Monica S Mcfeeters's insight:

Who really won last Tuesday? Not the workers or citizens of his or any country...but the already powerful 1%.........Please wake up America! Obama is already on board with the 1% Republican agenda...it was all those others that were voted out of their way with big money ads and the hate Obama diversion that were really the gatekeepers between the sale off of American and private citizen interest and protections. They stood between  not only the Republican' worst agenda, but also Obama's that was usually shared by Republicans and owned by the 1%......Some really bad policy may shape up easily now....Thanks to far too many for believing the wrong spin and being a sleep at the voting wheel.... OBAMA IS NOT A SOCIALIST< CONMMUNIST>>>>ISLAMIC OR THE ANTI_CHRIST!!!! He is only about two spits away from these Republicans on maybe three issues....He stands for green jobs and energy, expanding health care to include everyone affordably , and finding ways to help students afford education......other than those you can't tell hardly see any difference in his agenda in action from the dream Republican agenda. The South: Solid once again _ for Republicans

The South: Solid once again _ for Republicans | AUSTERITY & OPPRESSION SUPPORTERS VS THE PROGRESSION Of The REST OF US | Scoop.it
ATLANTA (AP) — With the walloping Republicans gave Democrats in the midterm elections, the GOP stands one Louisiana Senate runoff away from completely controlling Southern politics from the Carolinas to Texas. Only a handful…
Monica S Mcfeeters's insight:

Here is the Ayn Rand, tough love for you and I deserve all I can get gang. A mix of the Libertarian, Neo-Republican and the Old School, Good Old Boys that is beginning to fear the young Tea Party, extreme version they incubated and hatched with their own money and power  is lord and save the Economy rather than undeserving people themes at the heart of the party these days. Now this group is back in power to continue the sweep up of the national and global resources, labor concessions and wealth They will seek to continue to gain the 1% that mainly funded their elections, freedom from regulation and control and discipline from the citizens and consumers for irresponsible conduct.

All this because they played over and over again the tunes  "Hate and Fear Obama", "Save Unborn Babies" (oh …but never mind about starving them after they get here) And of course the other tune palyed over and over was "Saving Religious  Freedom" (but really only if you are Christian). They won midterm elections this time with these battle calls. Then gullible, conservative voters turned out to fight the good fight. Never mind that many of those voters, their families and their neighbors struggle already from the oppressive agenda of the mega rich that do own the media , the message and most of our elected officials…..Especially on the Republican side.

I must confess that for years while I lived in Kentucky  I voted for Mitch McConnell. I have read up on why I would have done that. There is much evidence that he was a different man then from who he is today and that gave me some peace. All I can say now when I think of those votes though is "Forgive me Lord for I knew not what I was doing"…. Wrong is wrong and you really can't have an argument about that like we like to think.  Disregarding people and not allowing the means and way for them to develop and advance in their life is wrong. That conduct and agenda treats people like as though they are expendable. Demanding and accepting the labor of people of the community without fairly sharing the gains with them and contriving to own and possess the resources of the planet without  regard to sustaining life on the planet is irresponsible, greedy and just plain wrong.
