Nicely curated article Matt. I completely agree with you, this article gives a clear understanding about the relationship of SMO's and SEO's and the relevance within the market today. The article also talks more about the 7 stage model that is easy to comprehend and is explained in more detail. These stages are reputation, engagement, authority, leadership, thought leader social and optimization. All these stages in my opinion are relevant in the relationship between SEO's and SMO's and can help businesses within the market today.

Neil Ferree's insight:

#4: Lead the Witness

Sometimes the easiest way to get a testimonial is to simply ask for it. Moreover, you may actually want to write something for your customer.

If you do write a testimonial for the customer, make sure you get their approval (obvious, I know) and that you don’t sound overly promotional.

You want to treat the testimonial like a case study. Talk about the problems that you helped the customer solve rather than talking about the generalities of your product or business.

It helps if you can provide measurable results with a 5 Star Review

Google has announced this week that its web search engine is now being driven by a new algorithm, officially known as Hummingbird.

Great insight into the rise of authority sites that get curation and original content right.  Becoming the source to go to requires focus, listening and curating the best content that is right on topic.... the place to come to for all things about....... whatever topic you pursue.  There's so much noise on the internet that when a website does all the work to bring the very best material to you on a given topic, that site can become the go-to authority site.
