The Pentagon’s blue-sky research agency is readying a nearly four-year project to boost artificial intelligence systems by building machines that can teach themselves — while making it easier for ordinary schlubs like us to build them, too. When Darpa talks about artificial intelligence, it’s not talking about modeling computers after the human brain. That path fell out of favor among computer scientists years ago as a means of creating artificial intelligence; we’d have to understand our own brains first before building a working artificial version of one. But the agency thinks we can build machines that learn and evolve, using algorithms — “probabilistic programming” — to parse through vast amounts of data and select the best of it. It’s been a while since SocialTimes did a round-up of the various tools that helped users manage their Twitter accounts by finding who to follow, following new people, unfollowing many people at once and organizing groups of users they follow into lists. Since our last round-up, Twitter has restricted use of its API significantly, causing several tools to shut down. No longer functional areUntweeps, Just Unfollow, Twit Cleaner, Who Follows Whom and Tweet Effect. Tweeter Karma is still functional but has had to remove its bulk unfollow tools. If you are looking for tools that can help you cleanup, and unfollow useless or unworthy people, here is an updated list of the best free tools you can use for this task as many have shut down since Twitter latest API update. No longer functional are Untweeps, Just Unfollow, Twit Cleaner, Who Follows Whom and Tweet Effect. Useful. 7/10 (Image credit: TimeandDate.com)

I love that point Martin! I think people call it social because of the personal element to it as opposed to advertising and things like that, especially because it's so interactive in nature. Do you have a suggestion as to what to change the name to?
