Longer Search Queries Are the Norm: What It Means for SEO

Longer Search Queries Are the Norm: What It Means for SEO | Google Plus Business Pages | Scoop.it
Eliminating keyword-based strategies and optimizing long-tail keywords are just two ways search marketers can take action, as queries increasingly become longer.
Neil Ferree's insight:

Google uses a process called "semantic search," which analyzes the intention of a user's query, then searches for sites whose capabilities make them good fits for serving that intention. Because of this change, users are finding the traditional, short, keyword-based queries to be less effective at getting relevant results than longer, more conversational queries. In fact, many users are asking full, specific questions rather than searching for a general topic.

There are a lot of moving parts involved in a well honed content marketing system for a small business owner to consider. If you want to become a content marketing ninja and increase your online visibility and brand awareness on the social web, you will want to avoid making these 10 rookie mistakes.

Jenna Coppola's curator insight, May 13, 1:45 PM

I thought this article was interesting and good for people who are just beginning to use social media marketing. The one I thought was really good was the point on "Not Working Your Headlines" because we all see headlines today that are the Buzzfeed type, they look like "20 things to do in your 20s" and they are annoying, but I think they catch the eye of some people. And for amateurs, they would probably go after this type of headline, when in reality, it's overused and a cliche at this point. This article could definitely be useful for someone new at social media marketing. But it clearly could be useful for those who are veterans, clearly, by taking a huge dig at Buzzfeed.

Technique #4: Post multiple times a day

You can’t expect to post once a week or once a day and get the most traffic. I know some people say you get better engagement if you spread out your posts. And although that’s true, it doesn’t really matter if the content you are posting is exceptionally good.

Just look at these models: they are only posting content that their followers want to see. In addition to that, they are posting the content multiple times a day as it helps them get more engagement faster.

Spend the time to curate great content. If you are pushing out great information, more people will want to follow you.

How to Track a Hashtag Campaign Effectively

How to Track a Hashtag Campaign Effectively | Google Plus Business Pages | Scoop.it
To tell any story, you first need to have the facts straight first. To tell a story well, you need to communicate those facts in the most compelling fashion possible.

As social marketers, we don’t lack the facts. With so many channels offering different ways to engage and interact with your followers, there are social KPIs abound. The challenge lies in turning those data points into analysis that provides insights and creates a coherent narrative around your social activities.
Neil Ferree's insight:

Hashtag campaigns are excellent ways to create new organic conversations.  Along with those conversations however, comes an all new data set to understand.

When approaching analysis of a hashtag campaign, it’s important to demonstrate how that new conversation strengthens your brand’s social foundations and improves your competitive position.

In order to prove that value, the new KPIs your hashtag generated must be reinforced by the larger social context of the brand, weaving a holistic story across earned media, owned media, and your competition.

When you send connection requests through the Connect button on someone's profile, you have to prove you know them through a mutually listed company or school. To skip that step, just search for the person you want to connect with, and use the Connect button next to her name to immediately send the invitation.

Neil Ferree's insight:

Take Advantage of Groups

While connecting with people you don't know is against LinkedIn's rules, joining groups of users with similar experiences, jobs and interests is a great way to reach more people and resources. There are groups for colleges, industries, professional organizations, companies and common interests, and being part of these groups allows you search and filter through them with an upgraded account.
