Something I Stumbled Upon #googlemarketing

Something I Stumbled Upon #googlemarketing | Google+ Marketing for Contractors | Scoop.it

One of the great things about the internet is that it’s constantly changing. Being behind in your rankings today doesn’t mean being at the back of the pack tomorrow.

One of the not so great things about the internet? It’s always changing. What search engines love today, they may ban tomorrow.

Luckily for you, it’s our job to keep all of that straight. The only thing you have to do is send us whatever information you want added to your listings, and then wait for results. That’s why I want to share something I stumbled upon that can add huge value to your online listings…

Adding a service or product page to your listings allows you to do two things:

• Add dynamic, time sensitive content to your page. The more content you add that is original, and most important, relevant, the higher your local listing ranks. What could be more relevant that showing what you do and how it benefits readers?

 • Build credibility. When readers can see exactly what you do and what you offer, they’re more likely to visit your webpage to learn more, or even better, schedule an appointment. But if your listing is incomplete or unimpressive, they’re heading straight back to the search results page.

Differentiation is the name of the game and you’re aiming to win. So, send us your service or product information and we’ll get it added to your local listings.

To keep your listing at the top of local searches, send us your updated photos, offers, and social media posts by the end of this week. This ensures the changes will be made during your next optimization cycle. Any other questions? Fire them off to locallock@hudsonink.com.

Is it Social Media or SEO? Removing the Confusion

Is it Social Media or SEO? Removing the Confusion | Google+ Marketing for Contractors | Scoop.it
SEO is alive and kicking through social media. The two have joined forces to bring the most relevant and unique content to Internet users and here’s how.

It’s no secret that search engine optimization (SEO) strategies have changed. The relationship between being active in social media and its effect on your search engine rankings (AKA PageRank) has been widely illustrated from expert to expert. The solidifying factor was the introduction of Google+, the Google +1 button and Google+ Authorship.

Many knew social media network activity had an effect on that coveted first place search engine ranking, but it was Google that first showed how deep the SEO rabbit hole really went.

12 Places Businesses Should Be Collecting Online Reviews

12 Places Businesses Should Be Collecting Online Reviews | Google+ Marketing for Contractors | Scoop.it

I don't think it's safe to assume we all know exactly wherein the wide world of the web we can point those well-wishers when they want to sing your praises. I mean, we might all be able to rattle off one or two sites ("Yelp! and I think somehow you can do it on Google, right?"), but we don't exactly have a laundry list of options at our disposal.

Until today. Dun dun dunnn!!! Here we go, guys. Everywhere on the internet you can get online reviews. So now you can ... you know ... go get 'em.

GooglePlus Helper: Saturday: Google+ photo themes for the day!

GooglePlus Helper: Saturday: Google+ photo themes for the day! | Google+ Marketing for Contractors | Scoop.it

The hashtags used on Google+ work in two ways:
You can click on them and they will take you straight to the search, showing posts with the hashtag in question. People who search for a certain topic can do so with or without the # and a keyword: You get slightly different results with either method, I've noticed.

Easy (Not Sleazy) Lead Creed

Easy (Not Sleazy) Lead Creed | Google+ Marketing for Contractors | Scoop.it

Question for you, oh Cyber Sleuth:

Since you submitted your listing to LocalLock, has your company description changed? Think about it.

Unlike the old Yellow Pages (have you seen one lately?), where you’d place and ad and “That would be that” for a whole year. Sometimes contractors wouldn’t change those ads for years! Do that now and you’ll be labeled old, outdated, irrelevant… or all three.

Yet online methods allow – and even encourage – that you make regular, ongoing change to boost your results. Sometimes sleazy online marketers add keywords that are popular, but don’t have anything to do with the service. That’ll get you short term leads, and maybe long term busted.

Here’s a better way...

Change your company description. Yep, that’s it. You can adjust your description seasonally, such as going from discussing “basement drains” in Spring to “frozen pipes” in Fall. Or furnaces to air conditioners, maintenance to replacement, panel replacement to outdoor lighting. See?

Not sure where to go from there? Get a Grade. Can't know where to go if you don't know where you are....http://locallockforcontractors.com/free-listings-report/
