When Everybody Starts Wearing Smartglasses, Google Won’t Be the Only Player

When Everybody Starts Wearing Smartglasses, Google Won’t Be the Only Player | "#Google+, +1, Facebook, Twitter, Scoop, Foursquare, Empire Avenue, Klout and more" | Scoop.it

There’ll be no shortage of smartglass systems in as little as one to two years. Research firm Gartner says there are about a dozen companies with products in the works, many of them ready for prime time. There could be as many as 10 million smartglasses sold worldwide by 2016, if software developers can come up with appealing applications that provide wearers with useful, nonobvious information about their surroundings, according to IMS Research, which defines smartglasses as “wearable computers with a head-mounted display.” Without good apps, the number of smartglasses sold could number only about one million by 2016, IMS adds.

Social Media Command Center Is In Your Future

First "social media command center" I saw was at Edelman (http://www.slideshare.net/EdelmanDigital/edelmans-social-intelligence-command-center-sicc ). The first person I heard mentions real time social arbitrage was David Meerman Scott.

David’s books including NewsJacking and New Rules of Marketing and PR are must reads since our slouch toward real time is picking up speed and momentum. Real Time will be where the social money is really made and you need a "command center" to parse real time ORM feeds (Online Reputation Management) into proactive connections and sales.

This is a great infographic about what your Social Media Command Center may look like in our not too distant Internet marketing future.

Your Biggest LinkedIn Mistake Can Be Easily Fixed

Your Biggest LinkedIn Mistake Can Be Easily Fixed | "#Google+, +1, Facebook, Twitter, Scoop, Foursquare, Empire Avenue, Klout and more" | Scoop.it

The number one mistake you are making with LinkedIn is the generic use of LinkedIn invitations – invitations and responses to invitations. If you are not leveraging this feature, then you are leaving ‘relationship currency’ on the table. Using LinkedIn invitations is the best way to start, revive or expand your business connections to help you build your social brand.

Facebook Asks You To Please Select Your Emotion | TechCrunch | "#Google+, +1, Facebook, Twitter, Scoop, Foursquare, Empire Avenue, Klout and more" | Scoop.it

It could make us more willing to express how we feel. Or you could say it over-simplies our complex moods and lives. But today the Facebook status update box began offering the option to “share how you’re feeling or what you’re doing” through a drop-down menu of emoticons and media. We’re entering a more structured era of communication, where both friends and big data know exactly how we tick.

Facebook began testing the new sharing options in January, but only released screenshots. Now it appears the feature has been given to a much wider audience. It’s likely the beginning of a global or at least US or English language rollout. I’ve contacted Facebook for details. Most mentions I’ve seen of the feature have been from the US, and many note the similarity to an old Myspace mood sharing option.

From what i've read in this article, Google is using google earth to give the people of the earth more possibilitties. Google has done a great job by doing a street view hyperlapse of some places of the world. It helps disabled people to see places in the world that they cannot go to.

Jasmine Tan's curator insight, July 1, 2013 10:05 AM

From this article, I can see that technology is becoming more advanced and that it is helping humans a lot, even google maps is becoming more helpful to humans now. I think that technology improving used to be a ‘possibility” in the past but now it has became something in reality. This means that the possibility to achieve such good technology in the past has became reality. I wonder if technology will take over humans some day and that humans would become more reliant on technology, nothing is natural anymore.
