7 Tips To Maximize Shares of Your Facebook Posts

7 Tips To Maximize Shares of Your Facebook Posts | "#Google+, +1, Facebook, Twitter, Scoop, Foursquare, Empire Avenue, Klout and more" | Scoop.it

Facebook recently changed the way users interact with content on fan pages: any user, including non-fans, can now post on fan page walls and like/comment/share fan page content. In other words, a Facebook user does not have to first like your fan page before they can interact with your content. This is a good thing!

Since this change, the emphasis has shifted slightly from gaining more likes (fans) to increasing the number of shares on each piece of content. When you craft your fan page updates in a manner that naturally inspires fans and their friends and visitors to your page to share with their networks, you set in motion ripples of viral visibility. Basically, free additional exposure...

Tips for Starting a New Facebook Fan Page

Tips for Starting a New Facebook Fan Page | "#Google+, +1, Facebook, Twitter, Scoop, Foursquare, Empire Avenue, Klout and more" | Scoop.it

One of the things many people struggle with in social media are identity issues, and I am no different. Up until yesterday, my main Facebook entities included my personal profile and my fan page for Kikolani. While I love both of these, I found some problems with sharing links to posts I’ve done elsewhere. Specifically…

- Links I’ve posted to my personal profile lately haven’t gotten that much attention compared to plain status updates or photos.
- The fan page for this blog is focused on posts from this blog only. Fans didn’t sign up for posts from elsewhere.

So the solution was creating a new Facebook page. This page is specifically focused on my freelance writing and blogging as a whole so it can be a platform where I can share links to anything I have written anywhere...

Facebook Timeline Is Here: Are You In?

Facebook Timeline Is Here: Are You In? | "#Google+, +1, Facebook, Twitter, Scoop, Foursquare, Empire Avenue, Klout and more" | Scoop.it

Facebook members are waking up to this new reality: Timeline is officially transitioning from beta to all-out feature. Eventually, Facebook Timeline may be the default view for all Facebook users.

The invite is relatively small and the explanation — at least on your Facebook homepage — is succinct. “Timeline is a collection of the photos, posts and experiences that help you tell your story.” It’s a little sentence, though packed with meaning.

While photos and posts are fairly well-defined entities, “experiences” is much looser, and it’s really the magic of Timeline. As skeletal as your Facebook Timeline may appear when you first see it, it is intended to be a linear biography, a map of your life. You can fill it up and you can let others do so as well.

ThinkUp 1.0: Reclaim your tweets and Facebook posts

ThinkUp 1.0: Reclaim your tweets and Facebook posts | "#Google+, +1, Facebook, Twitter, Scoop, Foursquare, Empire Avenue, Klout and more" | Scoop.it

Expert Labs has released version 1.0 of ThinkUp, a program that lets people archive, search, and analyze their activity on Twitter, Facebook, and Google+.

And if you ask me, this is a big deal.

ThinkUp, the free, open-source brainchild of programmer and Lifehacker founder Gina Trapani, keeps track of what you've done online. It extracts the data from the walled gardens that house more and more of people's digital lives then replants it in your own garden.

The app isn't simple to install, unfortunately. You need some server administration skills so you can host ThinkUp on your own Web server or run it on an instance of Amazon's EC2 cloud-computing service. (More on that point later.)...

5 Ways to Humanize Your Company With Social Media

5 Ways to Humanize Your Company With Social Media | "#Google+, +1, Facebook, Twitter, Scoop, Foursquare, Empire Avenue, Klout and more" | Scoop.it

We call this crazy thing we’re all addicted to social media for a reason: it’s about people. It’s about developing relationships.

So, if you use social media to connect with your customers (or fans, or followers, or tribe…), authenticity is a must.

Keep reading to discover five tips to make your company more “human.”

#1: Use your name
Putting a name (that’s a real, human name) on your blog posts, tweets or status updates shows your audience that you’re not a robot or an automated stream of sales pitches and company news. Using your name when updating social media humanizes your content and makes you relatable for your audience...

I Believe In Google Plus - Fast Growing Social Network in History

I Believe In Google Plus - Fast Growing Social Network in History | "#Google+, +1, Facebook, Twitter, Scoop, Foursquare, Empire Avenue, Klout and more" | Scoop.it

This is an insightful piece by Jon Evans for Techcrunch

Intro: He asks.....

"Is this a contrarian view? I can't even tell any more. On one hand, Google Plus now has 40 million users, it's the fastest-growing social-networking site in history, and its users have uploaded 3.4 billion photos."

Here's what caught my attention:

Can Facebook seamlessly do both, and be all things to all people?

Maybe, but that’s not the direction they’re going.

****Ironically, they’re doing things “the Google way,” betting on sweeping algorithmic solutions with their Smart Lists and Top Stories,

****while Google seems to be building G+ “the Facebook way,”

****around personal curation and social selection.

****The key difference is that, as moot aka Christopher Poole said the other day,

****our identities — and our relationships — are prisms rather than mirrors, multi-faceted rather than black & white.

Google Plus acknowledges this in a way Facebook doesn’t, and that’s a big part of why I believe it will ultimately succeed.

It's official: Google+ will be connected to everything

It's official: Google+ will be connected to everything | "#Google+, +1, Facebook, Twitter, Scoop, Foursquare, Empire Avenue, Klout and more" | Scoop.it

Are we surprised by this? What are the benefits and the downside for us as participants?

Good piece by Matthew Ingram Sr. Writer for Gigaom..........

Intro:

By now it’s become fairly obvious that Google’s new social network, Google+, is here to stay (unlike some of the company’s past efforts at being social): depending on which estimates you believe,

**Google+ may have as many as 50 million registered users, which is not bad for a three-month old product.

And the company has made it clear that it wants to use Google+ as a kind of identity platform for other things — hence the importance of its controversial “real name” policy.

**But it wasn’t obvious just how much was riding on the new network until recently, thanks in part to some comments made by vice-president of product Brad Horowitz, who said that in the future, Google+ and Google will effectively become inseparable.

Here's what caught my attention:

"Tying all that to my real name and my Google+ posts is another step down the road towards a potential personal privacy debacle.

**That’s the problem with the kind of ubiquity that Google wants for its Google+ network, and the downside of trying to copy (and improve on) a giant social network like Facebook: along with all of the benefits comes the risks and the inevitable backlash as well

**— and for a company that is already under investigation by the FTC for how far its reach extends, that may be a bit more than even Google can handle.

What do you think?

10 Productive Tasks You Should Be Doing On Google+ Right Now

10 Productive Tasks You Should Be Doing On Google+ Right Now | "#Google+, +1, Facebook, Twitter, Scoop, Foursquare, Empire Avenue, Klout and more" | Scoop.it

Google+ had a hot start, but has since cooled down. For a lot of people, that means ignoring Google+. I want to warn you that is a bad idea.

Although the lights are on and it seems like nobody is home, trust me: there are people there. And they are the very people who can have a huge impact on your blog and business.

Why Google+ isn’t going anywhere

Google+ is designed to draw you away from both Twitter and Facebook. And in time, it could do this.

Yes, Facebook has over 800 million users. People like to state that number and then say “Facebook isn’t going anywhere.” Fair enough. But people do migrate. It happened to AOL. And it could happen to Facebook. In fact, former Facebook president Sean Parker says influencers are already moving from FB to Twitter and Google+.

I'm seeing a Score drop followed by a Score increase on Nov 17th-19th | "#Google+, +1, Facebook, Twitter, Scoop, Foursquare, Empire Avenue, Klout and more" | Scoop.it

Our Facebook data collector encountered an issue where it was not collecting new data for some accounts. Data collection returned back to normal on November 17th and affected users may see an increase in Score in the next few days as we process the data and give credit for that influence.

We apologize for the impact this may have had and want to let you know that we are working to ensure this doesn’t happen again.

This was due to expired Facebook tokens in our database that caused our collector to malfunction. We are now fixing the collector and asking those users to reauthorize their Facebook accounts (the predominant reason this would happen is because they changed their password).

Stop Focusing on your Facebook PAGE | "#Google+, +1, Facebook, Twitter, Scoop, Foursquare, Empire Avenue, Klout and more" | Scoop.it

This is a dangerous topic and I’m heading down a steep slope on this one as people may misunderstand, but it’s important to get it out anyway. Your Facebook page is important to you business, but it should only account for a small portion of your social media marketing day.

Period.

Most businesses that we work with have a strong leaning towards Facebook, just as they should. Twitter, YouTube, Tumblr, even Google+ have a role in the social media strategy for most businesses, but Facebook covers most of the needs simply because it’s where most of the people spend most of their social media time. The challenge is no longer with convincing business to use Facebook. It’s in getting them to stop thinking that their Facebook page is their Facebook presence...

Since the early days, Facebook page owners had the possibility to add a Discussions tab to their Facebook page. At some point, over 55 Million users were using this tab to talk, share their points of view, give feedback, and connect with each other.
