Dispite the non-profit status, Komen and its aggressive and jealous trademarking and organizational branding looks a lot like like a major, professional, corporate operation, doesn't it? And not a very feminist one. (There's a whole essay on that here by itself.) Ehrenreich is careful to note, for example, the infantilizing aspect of the products, not just from Komen, but throughout the breast cancer biz. After listing all the pink-themed geegaws, from Body Crème to journals-with-crayons (yes, crayons), she writes: "Certainly men diagnosed with prostate cancer do not receive gifts of Matchbox cars."

"The other kind of attention, which serves creativity, is where the right hemisphere is dominant. That requires deeply quieting the mind. It was Betty Edwards (Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain) who discovered that one powerful way to prompt a powerful shift from left to right hemisphere is to copy an upside down line drawing. Or simply to draw, for that matter. But there are lots of ways to prompt the shift: take a walk in nature, go for a run, listen to classical music... Even take a shower. It’s repetition that matters. The more we train any muscle - including the right hemisphere - the stronger and more active it becomes." Via axelletess

I am a card-carrying member of the Eternal Optimist Club (there is no such organization as far as I know, but someone should start one). I know that the sun always shines whether we can see it or not, the earth continues to turn no matter who sits in the Oval Office and the river of life flows on. Research shows that when older people look at pictures of faces or events, they tend to focus on and recall the happier ones more and the negative ones less. But why? Some psychologists assert that cognitive processes are responsible; for example, when an older person fixates on and remembers positive events and forgets the bad ones, it helps regulate emotions, allowing the person to view life in a better light.
In reality, there's no telling that we are already embracing and practicing bad habits. While we may be denying it, most people we make contact with everyday can attest to that. Motivational teacher Brian Tracey said that "while good habits are hard to develop but easy to live with, bad habits are the opposite since they are easy to develop but hard to live with."
We develop bad habits and negative thoughts because of the pressure and stress we encounter.
