We all know the five-second reaction to seeing a friend's birthday on Facebook — a basic greeting posted to their timeline. What if you want to do more?
"Facebook are constantly developing at new functionality options on their platform and must be keenly seeking those which will generate revenue and boost their less that shiny share price.
Next up is Facebook Gifts:- could this be it a winner for them? Social Gifting is not new but it will be for Facebook.
Facebook are rolling out gifting in the USA to begin with. It may well offer the perfect solution for those people who only remember their friends' birthdays when Facebook notifies them that today is the day! Incidentally the gift card market is bigger that HUGE already and it is projected to top 100 billion USDs in 2012
Here in France I'm delighted to get surprise gift boxes via La Poste! Most recently was a fabulous home-made Orange Drizzle Cake sent from Derbyshire in England. We thank you Mel Blackshaw!
What about you can you see yourself using Facebook Gifts when the the functionality becomes available in your country?"
Facebook is shutting down its facial recognition photo tool in Europe, following objections from the regulator.
"There was talk some time back that this tool, for face recognition with in Facebook was to be used as an automated security measure for people who got locked out of their accounts. The idea being Facebook would present users with a series of photos of people on their account, the person would be asked to name the person shown in the photos. However to me that idea seem flawed from the start. You see people have a tendancy to tag other people children, dogs, cats, horses, Grand mas and even random drunks with the name of the person they want to see the photos. Now this presents a difficulty for the tool. That's not why is it being removed though! Here in Europe concerns have been raised by the Data Protection Regulator. In light of this Facebook's templates are schedulded to be removed by 15th October this year. Facebook to date have demonstrated that they strive to meet with regulator's compliance orders around Data Protection and have in the past exceeded the remit they have been set to improve standards. Whilst having close to 1 billion registered users, Facebook are a very small company when one considers their users volumes compared to their staff head count." Sadie :)

Boost your local business website's online visibility through strategic use of local search terms. The easiest way to start using search marketing.
That important point is where most new online businesses get it wrong. Costly Common SEO Myth #1: ”The More People I Target, the More Traffic I’ll Get!” True… but not when you target them all at once. Most local business owners new to search marketing make the mistake of thinking that broader is better… which couldn’t be further from the truth.
"As with most things there people who have looked into the best times to Tweet on Twitter to gain the most engagement. As you can see here Saturdays and Sundays are said to be much better than Wednesdays and Thursdays. Hope you find this Infographic useful"

"People have talked amout this time and time again, finally it seems like Facebook are tightening up on their own terms and conditions. Heaps of marketers especially those who were selling high ticket Social Media for business courses back in late 2009 and early 2010 were actually teaching strategies which involve multiple Facebook accounts personal accounts - back then there were no business pages. These course flouted Facebooks only terms of service and did nothng other than line the pockets of those who were essentially clueless blaggers!" Sadie

"I really LIKE the idea of this as an alternative to recieving a traditional CV... I'm going to be asking candidates to submit an infographic CV for us going forward and seeing the result we get.
I would also be interested to see a traditional CV that a candidate might sent out to companies on spec along side an infographic version. I would like to see what they pick from their text version and add to their infographic. I really think it offers a much more personal insight. Thanks so much to Jonha Revesencio for this first class gift of inspiration." Sadie-Michaela Harris http://GoMoSoLo.com/Blog ;

"There has been much chatter in the Mobile space lately about the iPhone5... Then there are those who camped outside stores over night in the hope that they would be able to secure one of the first available!
" Facebook are to Charge Businesses to run Offers, this service was free until now.... maybe during the BETA phase and internal testing took place. I'm wondering if this means those with less LIKEs on a facebook Business Page will pay less than bigger pages. Facebook have already said that amount the offers will cost, will be a minimum of $5 and depends on the numbers of LIKEs the page has. However Facebookhave made no statement one way or the other as to if small companies would benefit for a change or if the buying power of bigger companies will prevail as is usually does.!" Sadie :)
In his first public appearance since Facebook's stock flopped in May, Chief Executive Officer Mark Zuckerberg said Tuesday that the social network is staking its future on mobile devices, but admitted that he bet on the wrong technology to get there.
"The situation as far as I can see is any business that does not have a Mobile strategy, does not have a future strategy. Zuck is far from daft and it's quite LIKEly that most of the Facebook shareholders have not grasped just how BIG Mobile is for Facebook. Watch this space ladies and gentlemen. It will be the saving grace of the share price hopefully! Those shares, if you recall, launched at 38UDS and peaked at 45 USD and dropped as low at 20 USD. " Sadie-Michaela Harris
In the last few months, there’s increasing evidence that mobile search activity for restaurants is growing by leaps and bounds.
"For the last 3 / 4 year we've heard so many times 'This year is the year of Mobile' truth is it is exploding exponentially! This year though there is no doubt about it restaurant searches are booming and certainly they are the most popular searches from Mobiles right now. Thanks to Jim Bryant for the head up on this article" Sadie
