Nope, check it out here Marc: http://stats.grok.se/es/201301/go they're the stats for January 2013. One theory I heard was that people are typing in 'go' expecting to go to Google, or a disambiguation page, but are getting a direct hit instead (this doesn't happen with English or French because page is not simply called "go". Of course, I'd be very happy if people were actually becoming interested in our favorite game too...

Epic Rivalry: The Ing Cup

Epic Rivalry: The Ing Cup | Go Board Game | Scoop.it

Every four years a tournament brings players together in celebration of incredible competition and skill.

No, I am not talking about the World Cup or the Olympics, but instead the ancient game of Go's most prestigious international championship: the Ing Cup.

The final round, a best of five match, is finishing up this week in Shanghai. Park Junghwan and Fan Tingyu will battle for a roughly $400,000 prize and an indelible place in Go history.

Tenchi Meisatsu | Insight into the Universe 天地明察

FULL TRAILER for the 2012 movie directed by Takita Yojiro ("Okuribito", 2008) starring Okada Junichi, Aoi Miyazaki, Yokoyama Yu, etc. Music is by Joe Hisaish...
Go Game Guru's insight:

This is a film about Yasui Santetsu, a Go player and famous Japanese astronomer, better known as Shibukawa Shunkai (played by Okada Junichi).

He was the creator of the Japanese Jokyo calendar, which was used for many decades, and the author of many books about astronomy.

He also played with his friend and rival, Honinbo Dosaku, in the castle games - who is a character in the story too. One famous game between Dosaku and Santetsu, where Santetsu opened on tengen, is depicted in the film.

The heroine in the film, played by Miyazaki Aoi, works at a shrine which still exists today. Here is Cho U 9p dedicating some of his famous Go problems to that shrine: http://tenchi-meisatsu.jp/news/2012/08/20/144422170/

Playing (or even watching) a game and seeing how groups evolve, come to life or die, is a thrilling experience – well, it is if you already know the game.
