As the P5+1 prepares to roll back the nuclear-related sanctions on Iran in accordance with the July 2015 accord, the question that springs to mind is whether this will bring about a revival of energy ties with India. Additional pertinently, once sanctions are rolled back, which way will Iran go?

Undoubtedly, Iran will be looking at its oil to bring in the much-needed revenue to its cash-starved economy; however, it is Iran’s potential as a gas supplier that is likely to play a bigger role in realising its ambition of becoming a regional inclunding geopolitical power, based to large extent on its energy reserves.

Garuda adds more flights to China, Mideast| glObserver Global Economics

Flag carrier Garuda Indonesia is to add additional flights to destinations in China and the Middle East next year as part of the airline’s efforts to maintain its revenue increase. Garuda Indonesia president director Arif Wibowo said the airline would focus on serving cities that saw high travel request.

The carrier plans to deploy 22 Airbus 330 aeroplanes to serve several routes, with almost half of the fleet to be directed to China and the Middle East. Six of the assigned aircraft will be dedicated to serving umroh (minor haj) and haj pilgrimages from outside Jakarta, particularly from Balikpapan in East Kalimantan, Makassar in South Sulawesi, Surabaya in East Java and Medan in North Sumatra.

The Uzbekistan-Korea Tungsten joint venture will start the construction of a tungsten mining and processing complex on the basis of the Sautbay field (Navoi region, the central part of Uzbekistan) in the second half 2016, one of the representatives of the Korean Shindong Resources Co., which is co-founder of the joint venture, said.

n August 2011, the Korean Shindong Resources Co Ltd and Uzbek National Geology Committee signed an agreement on establishing a joint venture called Uzbekistan-Korea Tungsten to develop the Sautbay tungsten deposit. The joint venture, in which the share of the Uzbek National Geology Committee is 49 %, and the share of Korean companies is 51 %, was established in 2013. The development of a bankable feasibility study for the start of financing the project will be completed before late 2015, according to the representative of the Shindong Resources.

Ostensibly, resettlement serves the dual purpose of protecting the environment – by forbidding grazing and logging, reducing people pressure and land use – and helping local communities to break away from the cycle of rural poverty. Over the completed few decades, these resettlement projects have been highly publicised and are said to be an integral part of China’s ‘sustainable development strategy’.

To sustain the efforts of a transboundary haze-free ASEAN, it is significant to remain vigilant and be prepared early enough to prevent any occurrence of fires. This calls for better early warning systems and swift deployment of fire-fighting resources even before the fires starts.

Currently, incidences of forest fires and weather conditions are monitored and reported by the ASEAN Specialised Monitoring Centre (ASMC) which provides hotspot data and weather and climate forecasts for the ASEAN region. Although hotspot data is useful, it can only inform completed incidences. Furthermore, the accuracy of the hotspot data is significant to identify actual locations and origins of fires.

People in Myanmar are awaiting the results of the initial openly contested national election in 25 years. Votes are still being counted, and officials say preliminary results are presently not expected until later on Monday.

In one of the earliest and most significant known results, the ruling party's Shwe Mann, who is speaker of the lower home of parliament, conceded defeat in his constituency to the NLD candidate. Plenum topics will likely include a lowering of China's increase target, accelerating national-sector reforms and redoubling efforts to reduce pollution, analysts say.

As the company is in default under the 2013 joint operating agreement (JOA), Total and CNPC – which joined the project taking 33 % each – have demanded that Tethys' subsidiary-Kulob Petroleum Limited completely withdraw from the JOA and assign all of its participating interests in the project to Total and CNPC in proportion to their respective participating interests.

In turn, Tethys said it will use all commercially reasonable efforts to protect its interest in the Bokhtar Production Sharing Arrangement in Tajikistan.

The buses are designed to carry a maximum of 100 passengers each, Li said.

Cambodia has designed strategies to give riel (local currency) a boost so as to reduce dollarization, which represents about 80 % of the currencies circulated in the country, the Central Bank's senior officials said Tuesday.
