"Paul Lawrie is looking to finish a brilliant 2012 campaign by going one better than last year at the DP World Tour Championship.
The 43 year old Scot has won twice on The European Tour this season, in Qatar and his native Scotland, as well as winning his singles game against Brandt Snedeker at Medinah to help Europe to Ryder Cup glory.
The World Number 27 believes the confidence gained from his runner-up finish to Alvaro Quiros 12 months ago played an important role in those successes, and now hopes to pick up a third win of the season as he looks to c
ement a slice of the bonus pool on offer at Jumeirah Golf Estates.
“Last year this was a fantastic week,” said Lawrie. “I finished two shots behind to take second on my own and played lovely all week.
“I holed a lot of putts this time last year which was nice, and obviously I’m quite keen to go one better this year, but we'll wait and see what we get come tomorrow.
“I played nicely yesterday in the Pro Am, made a few birdies, and just played nine holes now. I’m hitting the ball pretty well.
“Things are starting to feel a bit fresher."
