How have global rivalries shaped the world we live in, and how do they continue to affect the way some of the most crucial geopolitical decisions of our time are made? In this interview with renowned political scientist Kees van der Pijl, we look at some of the most pivotal events of recent years, from 9/11 to the Arab Spring and the current crisis in Ukraine, to reveal the surprising underlying forces at work.
GNUnion networks and organizes at the same time, in order to stitch a mass mesh network between like-minded peers, linking them and their network bases each other strategically. It strive to build dynamic, free, libre, and open source spaces, collective agendas and strategies to act upon in a harmonized way.
GNUnion encourages its peers to collectivize their individual social and communicational power to swarm around dynamical, creative and positive actions. Such collective actions create impacts at unpredicted magnitudes, regardless how large and powerful are the chosen targets.
Combining peer to peer social relations and technologies and embedding them into all its internal and external processes and relationships, GNUnion ultimately aims at hyper-empowerment of all the nodes involved in her mesh network. Below are some of the spaces we have been building on N-1, and ON an online social network spaces developed as free nodes using Lorea code.
Extracted from Torrentfreak, the Pirate Bay are at it again, this time with an alternative DNS browser that could lead the way to a newly P2P based Internet. Read on:
“Over the past few years The Pirate Bay has had to deal with its fair share of censorship, mostly through court-ordered blockades.
In response to these efforts the site launched the PirateBrowser last summer, and not without success. The tool, which allows users to circumvent ISP blockades, clocked its 2.5 millionth download a week ago.

In this interview, Shareable publisher Neal Gorenflo, John Robb of Global Guerrillas, and P2P foundation’s Michel Bauwens talk to David de Ugarte, one of the originators of the Spanish cyberpunk scene, about his more recent work developing a multinational worker cooperative, Las Indias, that is a culmination of his community’s thinking and work for the last decade. Las Indias is the manifestation of a unique socio-economic philosophy that synthesizes many strains of thinking and culture including cyberpunk, anarchism, network thinking, and cooperatives – all with a Spanish twist. It’s important because it points to a possible future for those who think outside of national boundaries, and who desire or need to take control of their own economic destiny. It’s a possible future that takes the centuries-old logic of cooperatives and remixes it for the urban-centered, global network society we live in today.
Ed.Note: A frequent question to the team of the Occupy Solidarity Network is, “Why are you still here? Isn’t Occupy over?” The response is that we carry a moral responsibility to maintain and grow the networked communication hubs that we have been a part of building to help bring radical social change. Ms. Donovan’s article speaks to the importance of servicing, preserving, and lighting up these networks when needed. Additionally, this article speaks of how interconnected the networks are with on-the-ground work, and how one cannot happen without the other. Activists are only as good as the community that we organize and work with, so we honor all of you who work tirelessly organizing with information, resources, or people, one cannot work without the others. -Priscilla Grim
Intra-capitalist class struggle between globalist, regionalists and nationalist fractions as well as the political-state class alliances they have formed, which are also divided amongst themselves is getting more and more fierce. We eye witness the results of this dog fight in Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Bahrain, Somalia, Syria, Spain, Greece, Ukraine, Venezuela, Caucasus, Africa, South America… everywhere. Certain fractions of these alliances fund certain NGOs and unions, sometimes they fund all sides. Soros, Ford, US Aid, Rockefeller, EU funds, which is public money, go to those NGOs and unions located in the US as well as in Europe and periphery, which might occupying opposing political positions. This class struggle given through civil society networks is played out in a similar way, and in parallel to that of given through the mainstream media.

Based on Waterman's Global Labour Charter idea, it was a reflection for future p2p self-governance structures to be build after upcoming 15O – Global Revolution, which was seen as a starting point for a generative phase transition. 2 years later, Spain's colourful Citizen Ties, progressive self-organised grassroots networks, might be transforming the idea into a concrete future model for total or absolute democracy: the 'Democracy full stop!' as it is called. Partido X, as it is described in the following link: http://partidox.org/en/what-is/ is identical with what we have been describing in August 2011. It is not designed as a usual bourgeois party. It seems rather like a Citizen mesh-network. Here is a is the promo video a Spanish Video with possibility to switch on English subtitles. Remaining question however is: How such model going to replace the established bourgeois party politics and parliamentary-bureaucratic form that guarantees the survival of abusive and corrupt fake elite democracy protected by armed forces and ‘legitimate’ state violence or terror. In case it works, can such model be implemented and survive in one country, stand against oppressive offensive from remaining fake democracies, or should it go beyond Spain via transnational and Global rEvolution? There is another model recently started to take off: Global Networked Labour Union, again partly inspired by Waterman’s Labour Charter in theory, but in practice by Industrial Workers of the World (Wobblies) which stood up against the monopolies of craft unions and won, as well as by GNU/Linux -the free, libre, and open source software= which stood up against monopolies of Microsoft and Apple Mac and won. It would be plausible to mesh all these autonomous models in order to succeed in Spain, Greece, Italy, Europe, and Worldwide. The recent call for Worldwide Waves of meshed actions (#WWW) would be the catalyser of such chain (or un-chain) reaction…
Today we have a paradox, the more communistic the sharing license we use, the more capitalistic the practice, with the Linux commons becoming a corporate commons enriching IBM and the like … it works in a certain way, and seems acceptable to most free software developers, but is it the only way.
Hence, an alternative, having the choice not just for non-reciprocal communist licenses such as the GPL, but introducing a median choice of socialist licenses, based on reciprocity.
This is the choice of http://p2pfoundation.net/Peer_Production_License; it is not to be confused with the cc non commercial, as the logic is different; this is not to offer protection to individuals reluctant to share, but to enable and empower a counter-hegemonic reciprocal economy that combines commons that are open to all that contribute, while charging a license fee for the the forprofit companies who want to use without contributing. The PPL was originally designed by ‘venture communist’ dmytri kleiner and you can find it discussed athttp://p2pfoundation.net/Bauwens,_Kleiner,_Restakis_on_Cooperative,_Commons-Based_Venture_Funding (ful ltranscript now available)
GNUnion invites every working people to network and organize in order to stitch a mass mesh network between their like-minded peers, friends and comrades, by linking them and their network bases to each other strategically. Our call is to all those who strive to build dynamic, free, libre, and open source spaces, collective agendas and strategies to act upon with many others in a more harmoinsed.

Mesh networking peer to peer grassroots economies through FLOSS tools in order to decommodify all the commons and emancipate labour from capital
Since 2010-2011 we have been rising from our ashes in Athens, Paris, Wisconsin, Tunis, Cairo, Madrid, New York, Tel-Aviv, Rio, Istanbul and everywhere. We have been making millions of new connections, strengthening ties around the planet, we have learned a lot through our networks and linked them on the ground!
We started to become One, being connected without leaving our ‘selves’ aside. We have been learning what does really mean to work together on a daily base, improving most direct forms of solidarity amongst the people who live thousands of miles away from each other, accross the continents. We have opened a massive space, possibility, star-gate towards mature and advanced brave new worlds, parallel universes, visions of planetary human civilizations based on economies that work for all, not for a tiny minority of ruling classes!
The Floksociety.org project wants to create the conditions for a fully fledged open-knowledge based commons society, or ‘social knowledge economy’. But this economy already exists, and we must learn from it. In this presentation, Michel Bauwens outlines, for a group of researchers working in Ecuador, what we know about the functioning and institutionalization of this new economy, how it integrated in the existing political economy, and how it can be liberated from this. How do we move from a proto-mode of peer production, to a fully functioning and autonomous modality that can ensure its own self-production. Michel tells me he felt particularly inspired that day, stimulated by the serious intent of the researchers present. Thanks to the IAEN, research dean Freddy Alvarez, and the team of the Amauwta research sharing project for sponsoring this event.
THIS IS THE FIRST GLOBAL MUMBLE CALL TO EVALUATE THE LAUNCHING OF THE WORLDWIDE #WAVEOFACTION, BY PARTICIPANTS ACROSS THE WORLD, ON THE 6TH OF APRIL 2014, SUNDAY 13:00 LONDON TIME. WE LOVE TO MEET AND EXCHANGE OUR VISIONS AND IDEAS OF GLOBAL CHANGE, AND HOW TO RIDE THE WORLDWIDE WAVE FURTHER IN 2014 SO THAT IT BECOMES A PLENTARY TSUNAMI OF AWERENESS AND CHANGE THROUGH COLLECTIVE, PEACEFUL, RADICAL, AND NETWORKED ACTION.
It is expected that the more war-prone the elite evolves more threats like this one will appear so similar bans might come somewhere else, on other social media as well. Simplest solution worth to try is linking one’s all social network accounts to each other. Here you can see how to link Twitter to Facebook, and here Facebook to Twitter. Almost all popular tools are able to connect to others. Using one of these social media management tools, or any other ones, it becomes easy to manage and post tweets and to Facebook or any other social network, and vice versa. The posts and tweets are duplicated on several social media and can be shared by others. Then those others need to create a mesh network of accounts by linking to comrades from different countries, this creates massive in- and out- fluxes that amplifies the voice of, in t his case Turkey to the World, and the opposite. If it works the result would not be a transnational strategy that can bypass fascistic bans like of Erdogan’s, but also could create stronger and distributed global network base. It is sure that the fiercer gets the struggle within the 1%, the more ruthless will they attack at human dignity. They will soon try to demarcate and de-nationalize it. Yet it won’t happen triggering and feeding-in the global wave of rEvolutionary actions. An infrastructure of distributed global network of people, could be helpful to protect the Internet to be divided as well as getting ready to organize the response of the people’s of the World.
GNUnion - One Big Meshwork's insight:
GNUnion invites activists and all social media users from across the world to create a mesh networked collaboration to penetrate fascistic offenses at people’s most basic rights as the Twitter ban in Turkey.
… A diverse and comprehensive theory of power and domination is necessary for a politics of total liberation, for alliances cannot be formed without understanding how different modes of power overlap and converge. Power is diverse, complex, and interlocking, and it cannot be adequately illuminated from the standpoint of any single group or concern. …
GNUnion networks and organizes at the same time, in order to mesh networks of like-minded peers, linking them and their bases each other strategically. She strives to build dynamic, free, libre, and open source spaces, collective agendas and strategies to act upon in a harmonized way.
GNUnion encourages her peers to collectivize their individual, social, productive and communicational power to swarm around dynamical, creative and positive actions and campaigns. In a way such collective efforts would create impacts at unpredicted magnitudes, regardless how large and powerful are the chosen targets.
Heather Marsh’s new book puts forward a challenge: how to achieve mass collaboration on a global scale and awaken what is inherently human in the heart. We live in revolutionary times of transition and significant change in the foundations of society. 2010 was a year of revelation. The publication of classified documents by WikiLeaks revealed the world of corrupt government secrecy and war crimes beneath corporate headlines, making ‘illegitimate authority’ a household term. WikiLeaks empowered the public to demand transparency and accountability of official action as a check and balance on the exercise of power. With the global legitimation crisis, new horizons opened up.

“Libre-Mesh is an initiative undertaken by community networks members of several continents that collaborate towards a common goal: to develop a set of tools that facilitate the deployment of Free Networks on any community in the world.
Main tool is Libre-Mesh firmware: based on OpenWrt, eases the creation of WiFi communities, and enables existing communities to add roaming clouds to their networks.
The firmware (the main piece) will allow simple deployment of auto-configurable, yet versatile, multi-radio mesh networks.
Other tools are:
LibreNet6: mesh tunnel broker to supply global IPv6 to free community networksChef: custom-fitted firmware creator for communitiesLibreMap (in collaboration with Freifunk): node plot in geographical location with automatic update of link quality in real-time.
