The Power of False Narrative

The Power of False Narrative | Global politics | Scoop.it
Enrique Ferro's insight:

Putin’s interference with that agenda – by preventing U.S. bombing campaigns against Syria and Iran – was viewed as a threat to this longstanding Israeli/neocon strategy. There was also fear that the Obama-Putin teamwork could lead to renewed pressure on Israel to recognize a Palestinian state. So, that relationship had to be blown up.

The detonation occurred in early 2014 when a neocon-orchestrated coup overthrew elected Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych and replaced him with a fiercely anti-Russian regime which included neo-Nazi and other ultra-nationalist elements as well as free-market extremists.

NASA confirms: Mars has liquid water

NASA confirms: Mars has liquid water | Global politics | Scoop.it
For the first time, NASA has confirmed the existence of liquid water on the surface of Mars, according to new research announced Monday. The finding stems from data and analysis by NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter.
Enrique Ferro's insight:

Mars will not attack, but the likelihood of microbial life is apparent. For the moment some American channels used the NASA report by airing it at the same time of Putin's speech in the UN, just to deviate attention... Poor Martians! Unaware in their tiny existence of the use the US earthers make of them!

In Brief: Putin's Address to the United Nations in 10 Quotes

In Brief: Putin's Address to the United Nations in 10 Quotes | Global politics | Scoop.it
Putin delivered a much-anticipated speech outlining Russia's position to the United Nations General Assembly on Monday. Here is a summary of what he said.
Enrique Ferro's insight:

"Do you realize what you've done?"

This was one of Putin's most noted phrases during the speech, in that while he never called the US by name, instead referring to the post-Cold War "sole center of dominance," he also called it out for the consequences of its decisions.

"I fear that the question will stay in the air because the policy that has at its base self-assurance and conviction in its own exceptionalism and impunity has still not been renounced."

The collapse of Saudi Arabia is inevitable

The collapse of Saudi Arabia is inevitable | Global politics | Scoop.it
Deep-rooted structural realities means that Saudi Arabia is indeed on the brink of protracted state-failure, a process likely to take-off in the next few years
Enrique Ferro's insight:

Saudi Arabia is the region’s biggest energy consumer: Now you know why they ban women from driving!

Saudi Arabia’s oil wealth ... plays a major role in fending off that risk of civil unrest: And don't forget cruel suppression, like public beheading, stoning, etc.

Yet the Saudi government has decided that rather than learning lessons from the hubris of its neighbours, it won’t wait for war to come home – but will readily export war in the region in a madcap bid to extend its geopolitical hegemony and prolong its petro-dominance: True enough.

Reading betweeen the lines of Putin's UN speech: US is cornered in Syria

Reading betweeen the lines of Putin's UN speech: US is cornered in Syria | Global politics | Scoop.it
Enrique Ferro's insight:

After the schedule of speeches was revealed, NASA immediately convened a press conference at almost the same time with some sensational details about Mars. It turned out that small rivers might flow there, or, perhaps not. It is clear that this was done so that Americans would change the channel and not watch Putin's speech.

About that famine in Crimea -- yeah, right!

About that famine in Crimea -- yeah, right! | Global politics | Scoop.it
Enrique Ferro's insight:

Furthermore, half of the bazaar stalls are run by Tatars who do not appreciate this initiative that is supposedly on their behalf. Tatar leaders' collaboration with the Nazi occupiers during World War II is the origin of the unjust deportation of an entire people. Obviously, the Crimean Tatars have become very cautious about their representatives and have no further wish to be drawn into adventures. Moreover, they note improved status, in recognition of their ethnic group, since the Crimea again became Russian.

Syrian rebels Panic, flee to Europe: New facts and angles

Syrian rebels Panic, flee to Europe: New facts and angles | Global politics | Scoop.it
Enrique Ferro's insight:
Europe will be overwhelmed by a wave of terror andRussia will be blamed — after all, the Russian troops drove the terrorists from their homes and they started to misbehave in Europe.

Although it might seem fantastic, this version deserves attention. After all, no one could imagine that the US might conduct experiments with nuclear weapons on Japanese civilians or that American soldiers under false pretexts would destroy the State of Iraq. There are dozens of similar examples, and each new one only strengthens the belief that for the sake of their interests theUnited States would stop at nothing.

Russian-Polish tension: Anger at bitter truths

Russian-Polish tension: Anger at bitter truths | Global politics | Scoop.it
Poland’s media has recently been indignant about Moscow’s ambassador to Warsaw “putting a part of the responsibility for unleashing the war in 1939 upon Poland.” But what did the Ambassador really say and what was the context?
Enrique Ferro's insight:

For example, in the early 2000s Poland excused itself from participating in 1938 in the division of Czechoslovakia – then the first victim of Nazi aggression in Europe. Poland then used the destruction of an independent Czechoslovak state for its own advantage, chipping off the region of Zaolzie, populated by many ethnic Poles.

All of that does not excuse Stalin for signing the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact of 1939 and the secret protocols to it, which divided East European territories pretty much in the same way Czechoslovakia had been divided between Germany, Poland and Hungary in 1938 (in both cases, these divisions were made along ethnic lines and were left intact after 1945). That is why the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact and its secret protocols were condemned by a special resolution of the Soviet parliament in 1939 for their immoral character.

This character, it should be added, reflected the terrible spirit of the times – safeguarding one’s own security at the expense of others. However, since the late 1980s the Soviet Union and Russia never presented their historic record as spotless and never adopted a “holier than thou” attitude, so typical of the Polish “historic policy” now.
