Expectations and reality: What Maidan gave Ukraine's economy

Expectations and reality: What Maidan gave Ukraine's economy | Global politics | Scoop.it
The major expectation of the Maidan protest a year ago was replacing the burden of corruption and mismanagement of the economy with the benefits of EU integration. The reality brought collapse and a debt trap.
Enrique Ferro's insight:

Yatseniuk seized power by means of a US-made coup, as his hidden agenda of selling off the country to foreign military and finances couldn't be offered to the Ukrainian voters when he was portraying himself as an ultranationalist. Well perhaps he is, but only as far as ethnically cleansing the Russian and Russian-speaking areas to impose a Ukrainian monolingualism and ethnicity.

Brokering power: US role in Ukraine coup hard to overlook

Brokering power: US role in Ukraine coup hard to overlook | Global politics | Scoop.it
After months of denying having a hand in the Ukrainian coupe, US President Barack Obama admitted playing power broker for the “transition.” This probably falls short of America’s actual involvement.
Enrique Ferro's insight:

It is true that $5 billion of taxpayers’ money is a lot of money, even throughout 25 years. Especially because private donors' (like Soros) money should be added. Americans never give money out for nothing, they seek a return.  They are the most consistent businessmen in the world, aren't they? So what was their interest? Everybody should know: expansion of their military order, especially under the NATO cover. And the pearl of the crown, Crimea.

Now you know why they are furious, because the Russians were faster. After all, Crimea has been a Russian land for a long time, and too much Russian blood was spilled there: against slave traffic, in the 1850s against a Western expedition, and in the 1940s against Hitler's invasion. And should they stand passive when the US is attempting to snatch it taking advantage of a "gift" made in 1954, under Soviet conditions?

‘Stick to Minsk deal’: Russia slams Ukraine idea for EU peacekeepers

‘Stick to Minsk deal’: Russia slams Ukraine idea for EU peacekeepers | Global politics | Scoop.it
Moscow criticized Kiev's plan to invite an EU police force under the EU’s aegis for a peacekeeping mission in war-torn eastern Ukraine, saying the move would undermine the Minsk ceasefire agreement.
Enrique Ferro's insight:

So the Junta is bringing NATO under the cover of a EU cap. Interesting, they lose the war, they sign a ceasefire to save their açs, and now they want to bring NATO in. I hope the EU understands the risk they would put their servicemen under and the danger of a direct fight against Novorossia and even  Russia. And I hope the decision is taken by the elected politicians and not by the top bureaucrat Donald Tusk, who apparently doesn't listen to the Member states but speaks for himself (and the US).

ClubOrlov: Extinct—Extincter—Extinctest

ClubOrlov: Extinct—Extincter—Extinctest | Global politics | Scoop.it
The USA is best characterized as a decomposing corpse of a nation lorded over by a tiny clique of oligarchs who control the herd by wielding Orwellian methods of mind control. So far gone is the populace that most of them think that things are just peachy—there is an economic recovery, don't you know—but a few of them do realize that they all have lots of personal issues with things like violence, drug and alcohol abuse, and gluttony. But don't call them a nation of violent, drug-abusing gluttons, because that would be insulting. In any case, you can't call them anything, because they aren't listening, for they are too busy fiddling with their electronic life support units to which they have become addicted. Thanks to Facebook and the like they are now so far inside Plato's cave that even the shadows they see aren't real: they are computer simulations of shadows of other computer simulations.

More money, more problems?

More money, more problems? | Global politics | Scoop.it
BBC Global News Ltd, the commercial arm of the BBC) with no official financing coming from either the US or the UK governments; however, one would be hard-pressed to find a single international news report on either channel that strays from the official line of the State Department or the Foreign Office. As such, CNN and BBC are de-facto soft-power extensions of the American and British governments, where foreign policy is concerned.
Enrique Ferro's insight:

To sum up: on the one hand you have the BBC, CNN, Euronews, France24, Deutsche Welle, Al Jazeera America and the BBG’s Voice of America and Radio Europe all beaming their strikingly similar points of view on current events to a likely combined price tag of several billion dollars; on the other hand you have RT “winning the information war” at a fraction of that sum.

ISIS have fetish for kinky underwear, Viagra, and ‘abnormal sex’ – report

ISIS have fetish for kinky underwear, Viagra, and ‘abnormal sex’ – report | Global politics | Scoop.it
“Perverted” ISIS fighters in the Syrian stronghold of Raqqa indulge in “brutal and abnormal” sexual practices, in sharp contrast with the austere religious image they try to project, claims a new report compiled by local activist journalists.
Enrique Ferro's insight:

That they are psychopatic perverts is nothing new, they persist and sign with their sadist videos, and certainly their all-powerful oppression over women is only logical considering their unrestraint male power and savage pseudo-religious rule. This is a shame for humanity, and the fact of their claming a religion is even worse.

‘Beyond diplomatic ethics’: Moscow rejects UK comment that Russia is threat to Baltics

‘Beyond diplomatic ethics’: Moscow rejects UK comment that Russia is threat to Baltics | Global politics | Scoop.it
Russian President Vladimir Putin may seek to destabilize the Baltic States of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia, Defence Secretary Michael Fallon has warned. Moscow labeled his statements "unacceptable."
Enrique Ferro's insight:

The real danger to the Baltic states is themselves, and their pathological Russophobia, while their economy and commerce depends on Russia, as they do not produce anything of interest for the EC and their gas comes from Russia. They cannot even boast of tourism, because the bulk of Western tourism prefer to visit Peter, and the Russian tourists (a main source of income) are tired of so much enmity and start to travel to Crimea rather!
