Hillary’s Foreign Policy Speech: Queen Galadriel Before Her Magic Mirror

Hillary’s Foreign Policy Speech: Queen Galadriel Before Her Magic Mirror | Global politics | Scoop.it
Rachel Maddow, the famously progressive MSNBC show host, pronounced it “her greatest speech of the campaign.” Chris Matthews agreed, adding that it would “have a very strong appeal to the neocon movement.” He mentioned in particular Bill Kristol, the Weekly Standard editor and TV commentator, as someone likely to be impressed. “A very smart man,” opined Matthews, the conservative Democrat and “Hardball” host, causing the entire cosmos to shudder.

You’d think that that war in Iraq, which Kristol had tirelessly championed, had never happened. And that its results had been anything other than horrific for the entire Middle East.

Syrian Negotiations: Is Saudi Arabia Taking Russia's Side in Peace Talks? | Global politics | Scoop.it
The resignation of the Saudi-backed High Negotiations Committee's chief Mohammad Alloush is likely to open the window of opportunity for negotiations over Syria; the move apparently indicates Riyadh's desire to stay relevant in the Syrian peace process.
Enrique Ferro's insight:
So much the better. However, are the Saudis to be trusted? Have they abandoned the "Assad-must-go" mantra? Do they accept the secular republic?

Article: It's Not Over Until It's Over | Global politics | Scoop.it
Article: It's Not Over Until It's Over - The goals Bernie has enunciated in his campaign are essential to our future: big money out of politics and reversing widening inequality; a single-payer healthcare system and free tuition at public universities (both financed by higher taxes on the richest Americans and on Wall Street); a $15 minimum wage; decriminalization of marijuana and an end to mass incarceration; a new voting rights act; immigration and a carbon tax.

Enrique Ferro's insight:
The US news media can't seem to come to grips with the fact that millions of Democratic voters don't like and don't trust Hillary - and will never vote for her. Here some TV pundits attempt to demolish a young Sanders supporter and end up getting demolished themselves.

Muhammad Ali: a Torchbearer of Resistance

Muhammad Ali: a Torchbearer of Resistance | Global politics | Scoop.it
If anything the passing of Muhammad Ali bestows even more greatness on the man, knowing that despite all he achieved, everything he went through both in and out the ring, he was mortal just like the rest of us. The mere mention of his name and the words just trip off the tongue – ‘beauty’, ‘poetry’, ‘elegance’, ‘vision’, ‘defiance’, ‘anger’, ‘justice’, ‘rebellion’, ‘determination’, ‘compassion’, ‘grace’, ‘strength’. Ali owned all of these attributes and then some.

Who could have predicted when a young, gangly, loose-limbed boxer from Louisville, Kentucky by the name of Cassius Clay took the light-heavyweight gold medal at the 1960 Rome Olympics – dismissed by the major sportswriters of the day as lacking the ability and power to go on and make any impact as a professional – that he would smash his way into global consciousness like a hurricane unleashed when, just four years later, not only did he become the youngest fighter to win the world heavyweight title at 22 with a performance against the fearsome Sonny Liston that induces wonder to this day, but did it while refusing to know his place as a black athlete in Jim Crow America.

Party Crashing and Political Revolution: With the DNC Just Weeks Away, What’s Next for Our Movement?

Party Crashing and Political Revolution: With the DNC Just Weeks Away, What’s Next for Our Movement? | Global politics | Scoop.it
As the California Democratic Primary rapidly approaches, I’m reminded of a small but important event that took place earlier this spring in San Francisco. Gutsy activists protested in April outside a campaign fundraiser for Hillary Clinton, co-hosted by movie megastar and area resident, George Clooney. The party was full of glitz, privilege, glamour, and of course money. Lots of it. The minimum price for entry to the hotel location was $33,400, with a seat inside the house party going for $353,400.

A group of 200 protesters, uninvited and unwelcome at an event unaffordable to them, used the media spotlight outside to call out Hillary Clinton’s c

The Trump Card: Hillary's Warmongering

The Trump Card: Hillary's Warmongering | Global politics | Scoop.it
One cannot help but wonder if Hillary Rodham Clinton is smart enough to be President. She evidently learned nothing from her attempt a few weeks ago to play the “woman card” against Donald Trump. He responded by slamming her for enabling her rapist husband’s multiple predations while savaging his accusers. You would think she would have remembered the old adage: “People who live in glass houses should not throw stones.”
Enrique Ferro's insight:
Hillary’s overthrow of Libya’s Muammar Gaddafi (conspicuously absent from her San Diego speech) has turned that country into an ISIS stronghold. Her cackle over his murder, echoing, tellingly, Julius Caesar—“we came, we saw, he died”—speaks volumes about her weird vainglory and bloody-mindedness.

Article: 48 Days From CA Primary to Philly Convention; What Could Happen?

Article: 48 Days From CA Primary to Philly Convention; What Could Happen? | Global politics | Scoop.it
Article: 48 Days From CA Primary to Philly Convention; What Could Happen? - From June 7 to July 25 there are 48 days.

Forty eight days, seven weeks from the California and New Jersey primaries until the first day of the 2016 Democratic Party convention. Forty eight days could be an eternity in terms of possibilities, and reasons why Bernie absolutely MUST stay in the race, no matter how many Hillary surrogates say otherwise.
Enrique Ferro's insight:
Hillary's multitudes of shits could hit the fan. For Bernie supporters, any further development of the cases against Hillary, regarding her Email server or the laundering of bribe money through the Clinton Foundation. We'll be hoping the sh*t hits the fan for Hillary, so hard, with such a reek that even the mainstream media which are railroading the nation to anoint her the Democratic candidate won't be able to spin her out of it. If that happens, Bernie would glide into the convention almost assured he will be the Democratic candidate-- and most of the people in the world, except for corporatists will be happy.

Lead by Poland, the European “House Negroes” Compete for the Darwin Awards    :  Information Clearing House - ICH | Global politics | Scoop.it
Enrique Ferro's insight:
The polish view of history is nothing short of bizarre. For example, Polish politicians constantly blame the Soviet Union for the 1939 Soviet-German non-aggression Treaty (aka “Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact”) of 1939. They conveniently “forget” that a full five years before 1939 Poland was the first to sign the 1934 Polish-German non-aggression treaty (for some reason not known as the “Piłsudski-Hitler Pact”). Speaking of Piłsudski, take a look at this (very politically correct) summary of his life and actions and you will see that having megalomaniacal Fascist national heroes is not only a Ukrainian feature.
